Hey guys! I'm currently shopping (more like "saving") for an FX Impact X. I will be getting the X so I can add my own LDC. I will also be getting the 700mm barrel and a single tank.
Here are my questions:
What caliber should I get? I will be shooting only JSB's but also NSA (Nielsen Specialty Ammo) slugs. I would be using the gun for the ultimate in hunting shot placement out to 100 yards or as far as I can. The gun could also end up being used in competition. (I can't afford $400 barrel kits at this point).
.30 cal? I already have a .30 cal FX Boss, so a .30 cal Impact may shoot farthest of all the calibers and it could share pellets with my .30 cal FX Boss.
.25 cal? I have 750 NSA .25 cal slugs right now (reason enough)?
.22 cal? Probably the cheapest NSA slug available. Air Arms Africa's Matt chose the .22 NSA slug & Impact combo because the flat trajectory he loves and he nailed some squirrel head shots and that ammo took them down easy. He said it was the most accurate of the slug calibers for the Impact...but they are now developing, with Matt, some new slug barrels in all calibers.
A side question is: what caliber Impact X would Youtube viewers want to see reviewed the most? Steve is starting with a .25. ..so should I start with a .30 and focus on long range shots? or hunt ground squirrels with a .22 or .25 NSA powered Impact X? (I may have an opportunity to do a nearby ground squirrel abatement program). If I had a .30 cal X then my spotter or guests could sling .30 cal pellets during hunting sessions.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. No promise on how soon I'll have the gun. They cost alot!!
