Your picture immediately took me back to 2018 and the last reunion at my wife’s family’s place in Brenham Texas. I know this is an airgun forum but the pictures are relevant. It was a pretty big gathering and there were enough kids that we were able to get a friendly competition going amongst them. They would alternate shot for shot shooting the steel until they missed, and then they had to give up their spot on the gun. The “winner” would move over to the opposite gun and defend their win against the next shooter. There was no time limit or round count limit on the day. I don’t know how many rounds of CCI Standard Velocity we went through but it was thousands and there wasn’t a whole lot of white paint left on the steel afterwards. Also got to educate some non shooting parents on the value of shooting sports and on the benefits and legality of suppressor ownership. Like airguns, suppressed bolt action .22s shooting subsonic ammo are so non threatening that even people who are scared of guns feel comfortable behind them very quickly. Both have the potential to turn adults around in the way they perceive shooting sports and are a great way to introduce kids to the activity.View attachment 565863View attachment 565864. Had a couple of my granddaughters today and they took a little bit of time to shoot the vixen but they were awfully busy playing with each other today and there was no fussing around which was nice to see , the grandkids seem to be better behaved for me lol. They were frustrated with scope alignment but they are coming around. Good times![]()
I have one grandson that’s going to give me a run for my money, at 9 he’s becoming a good shot. Absorbs anything outdoors in record time.Time spent with kids is time well spent. I taught our four grandkids to shoot and three shoot as well as me. They all love it!
They will remember those good times forever. Thanks for sharing your memories.Your picture immediately took me back to 2018 and the last reunion at my wife’s family’s place in Brenham Texas. I have sort of lost my oldest to growing up and a divorce, but I was told by someone who visited her recently, that when she didn't come to the door, they found her in the back yard shooting cans with a crack barrel pistol that I gave her.My youngest G-ddr is nearing (16) so friends and boys have replaced shooting. Hopefully, once they are older, they will return.
Youngest often says that she learned a lot more from a day at the range than in school.
