I had the day off from work so I went out to do some shooting. I've been wanting to tune the Marauder too, so I thought it would be a perfect day.
The Marauder hasn't been out in a while, so I shot a few rounds to check it on the chrono and was dismayed to see that it was only shooting at about 800fps. That's not right. I'll need to dig into it to see what's going on. It's probably about time to replace the breach seal, but still, that's quite a ways off the mark. I was concerned then remembered that the last time I had a chance to shoot it I'd just started to work on adjusting it when I was interrupted and had to put it away. Guess I'll need to start over again when my SSG arrives anyway. No point in wasting my time now anyway.
I decided to move on to the Bulldog. I haven't had a chance to shoot the Bulldog since it got back from Crosman (it had a leak). No leaks anymore. It was flinging JSB .35 pellets at just over 950fps according to my chonograph. It was the first time I'd been able to shoot it with out ear protection. It isn't loud, but it cracks. Reminds me of a .22lr. After a few shots I had it zeroed at 50 yards and it was shooting pretty well in my opinion. 1-1.5" groups at 50yards. I decided to try 100 yards I'd just gone through the first magazine at 100yards when a Wa Dept of Fish & Wildlife officer arrived. He was very apologetic, but told me that I wasn't currently permitted to shoot where I normally do. For 2 months of the year they close the area because it is an elk feeding area. Oops. So I packed everything up and came back home. With any luck I'll get to shoot my guns again someday.
