Shooting The 600s Today

I shot a few pellets today with the modified 600s. Both of these 600 were hot valved by Dave Gunter in 2011, one has been resealed since, no work on the other & still working well, like a well tuned sewing machine. I put the scope mounts on & bought the barrels online. I made the base short and drilled a hole in receiver. Most people use the barrel grub screw hole for a longer base, but I like to be able to get to the breech, w/o removing base. I admit this ruins the gun for collectors. The 600 with the scope shoots @ 470, the other 430. Cool today, will shoot faster when warm. Top groups are crosman 14.3 , bottom target H&N Wadcutters. Both pellets function great, but the H & N are more accurate. The best group I got today was a lil less then 3/8" ctc. All groups were 10 shots # 33 feet. The 600 with scope & bull barrel is most accurate as you can see. The other shoots about 1" groups at 33 ft.

Nice looking 600s Nutcracker. What a plinkers dream they are. Who made your grips? Mine is lock/stock with original box, but I’ve always wanted a customized version.
With so many great innovations in the airgun world these days it’s hard to believe that one of the greatest innovative pistols of all time the Crosman 600 is over 50 years old. They are truly a sight to behold and shoot. Thank you for sharing.

Vernon Austin made the grips. I agree, I only discovered the 600 a few months back & fell in love with em. Man if I would of had one of those when I was a kid, to go along with my Blue Streak. They are so much fun. They are so well balanced & super accurate at intended distances. Even with the longer barreIs, they have great balance & feel. Got on a kick and bought several. Most of them I bought was in excellent condition appearance wise & got boxes with three of them, but most of them had to be resealed. I talked to a guy today who is going to make me a LW barrel for mine. I am not sure who made the fat barrel I have but that thing is a laser for sure. I think 10 shots inside a 3/8" is pretty good for an half century old pellet pistol. I got two Plinkomatics also, they are real fun with 15 shots. They shoot hard too.

Nice!
Love the 600's , so much fun and they shoot pretty decent also. I fired one that Mike T. worked over , longer barrel and ????? gosh that one grouped well.

It has been said SO many times, if crosman would bring this back it WOULD sell. Nothing else comes close to this model.

Now that I am down to 5 airguns I really should ad just one pistol and a CR600 would fit right in as it is doifferent than anything else in the house.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice shooting. I feel fortunate to have two of these 600's in my collection. I remember purchasing the first when I was really young and it still shoots lights out to this day without being resealed. The second 600 took some work and time to get it going. They are not the easiest guns to work on but once you get them working they are fun. I am impressed by the grips on your pistols...very attractive...

I agree. They are well balanced and once you get them repaired & singing , they perform great. I am amazed at the accuracy. I am getting 3/8" ten shot groups, on my most accurate & the worse one maybe a lil under an inch. Their accuracy is more than one would expect, from a 1960 pellet pistol. With the original short barrel they are loud & almost have a lil recoil like a real firearm. Which is due to cycling, not the propulsion of the pellet. With the longer barrel, they are fairly quiet. The only hold back is the number of co2s you go through. Are those empties good for anything? LOL
