Shooting Starlings with the Dreamline Classic

I hit the permission today and just thumped the starlings. I had a good hide today. I recovered 17 and there were a bunch more I couldn’t find or get. I picked up the dreamline last winter and wasn’t very happy with the shot count. Was only getting one mag and then the poi just kept dropping like it was off the reg. I tried adjusting the reg and HS and that was the best I could get. It is hard to accept that shot count when my impact and royale 400 both get over 100 shots per fill. I ordered a huma reg and installed it and improved to almost two full mags on high power. I put it on the .22/177 setting and I get three full mags at 790 fps with 15.89 JSB. Very happy with that. Accuracy is great and it is so quiet with a Tanto. The birds were coming into this candy like feed he is getting. Can’t load pics so will try later.

Good little write up man. Starlings are quickly becoming my favorite target. I didn’t have many where I lived out in the country growing up, they hang out in town or at farms around here mainly. They were always a trophy species growing up chasing critters with my 20cal Sheridan though.
I didn’t gain an appreciation for them until I started pesting at the steel shop where I work. They nest in the insulation inside our shops, and inevitably do a lot of damage, not to mention how nasty they are. I’ve learned how smart and wary they can be chasing them as my main quarry. The European Starling is a worthy adversary, 17 in a day is a very good number. I got 26 in one day at the shop, I’m there for ten hours though. Greatest pesting gig around, pigeons are my exotic species trophy now. I only get 5-10 a year at the shop.

Edit: what size airtube does your dreamline have?

cahil_2 , I've got the same rifle, had it since 2019. Your numbers are way down from what I experience.... which would make me wonder what's going on internally with your rifle?

With factory settings, AMP reg showing 115-120 and power wheel on .177-.22 my rifle shoots 905fps with 16gr ammo and get 50 accurate shots before I refill.

Keep up the good work on the starlings....... take out any cowbirds along the way also - they don't build nests, indiscriminately eliminate nested songbirds' eggs' and lay their own eggs then allow the songbird parents to raise the cowbird young - these have become my NEW favorite targeted useless bird.
