Shooting Apolos in a huben k1

Do any of you have any experience with shooting the Apolo slugs? I know not too many people have had great luck shooting the Apolos out of their guns, but that has not been my case in most ocasions. On top of that I understand that most if not all would ward everyone from shooting anything smaller than .253 out of the hubens, but despite these slugs being .2505, they shoot very well for what they are and I haven't had a single jam yet. Occasionally I tap the mag on the buttstock so the slugs move back, but that's only when loading the mag if I had the barrel pointed downwards.

I rarely shoot for groups or bench shoot, either way I still strive to shoot half moa or better depending on the distanc I mainly pest control for iguanas 5-6 days a week. That being said, I decided to shoot 12 groups today. It was supposed to be 9 groups, 5 shots each, but after the first go round not going as planned. I decided to shoot another 3 groups of 5.

First picture will show all of the groups. The 3 stickers at the top are for the 33gr Apolos. I initially shot the groups that are directly below the target. I didnt have a tall enough table to shoot, so I used what I had. My kids craft chair and a glass patio table, it was too unstable and shaky, so I decided to just lay prone on our brick patio and the rest of the groups were shot the same from there.

I shot the groups from about 23.5yds. For the first go round using the chair, the groups were averaging .59" . Second round of 33gr were an average of .406". The group of 40gr in the middle area are an average of .575". And the bottom 3 are for the 33.94 mkii and those were an average of .49".

33gr Apolo were going 990-1000fps
40gr Apolo were going 932fps
34gr MKII were going 990-1000fps

Regulator is at about 152b

Also I understand this is just 23.5yds but I have been taking out iguanas out to 70yds since getting this Huben and have gotten plenty of iguanas and muscovys.

I have some, but have not tried them in my Huben. My K1 is .22, but I do have a GK1 in .25. I will have to give them a try...

Just curious, what kind of Pellet trap are you shooting into, and do your neighbors freak out when you are shooting? o_O
The inside is stuffed with rubber mulch and two 1/8" steel plates and great stuff sealant around the edges and behidn the plates to keep them in place.

Worth a try in the .22 variant considering they have 3 different weights, 21, 25, and 28. I've never heard a peep from my neighbors, but they're also never out on their patio.

LOL! I figured you had a pretty hefty pellet trap! We spend a lot of time on our screened patio and even knowing how robust that pellet trap is, I'm not so sure how comfortable I'd be enjoyng a cold beer with someone shooting in my direction! Probably a good thing they don't spend any time out there!

I'll have to check and see what size slugs I got, I think I got one of each to try in my guns, just haven't gotten around to it yet! Thanks...

Yeah I get what you mean lol. In the 2 years I've been here no one goes back there. Seems like a waste of a back yard to me.

I have yet to try any 253 or 254 as of yet and I' honestly partially weary only because of chesp this ammo is and how well is working. I tried some 44gr zans and they shot a 12 inch 3 shot group at 35yds so those are out of the equation. You're welcome!

I don’t but I will soon. I ordered some Apolo slugs and pellets last week.

I found that the nsa 254 38.5gr shot the best, I took several iguanas out to 180yds with it for the time I had it before trading it for a vulcan 3

Got my Apolo 25 cal 33gr pellets, 33gr and 40gr slugs today. A quick shooting session with a poor rest at 25 and 85 yards. Pellets shot ragged one hole groups with one being really tight and the other still a ragged hole. They aren’t quite as accurate as JSB but good enough that I ordered more pellets at 5 cents a shot and 40gr slugs at 6 cents a shot.

The slugs weren’t bad and held their own at 85 yards and 100 yards (another session) in breezy conditions. Gun is setup for pellets so I wasn’t expecting much but they are plenty good enough for pigeons out to 100 yards but I won’t be taking head shots. The only thing I changed on the gun is the hammer spring going from an 8 with 24gr pellets to 12 for the 33 grain pellets and 16 for the slugs. I haven’t chronographed them yet…

I think the slugs could be made to shoot better but I shoot pellets more than slugs so I won’t be changing it, for now anyways.
