Shooting a JW 80 switch barrel at PCP distance...

Groups shot today at 100 yards. Both are five shot groups. Utilizing the 22 caliber barrel. 15.9 grain jumbos at ~ 26.5 ft pnds. I also have a 25 caliber barrel which shoots 29 foot pounds. And a 17 caliber barrel which shoots around 23 foot pounds. I was shooting this at the range one day, and the guy sitting next to me said “that’s the Tyrannosaurus rex of air guns”. this was over 10 years ago. They were all handmade, by a gentleman named John Wiscombe in England. They used to trade rather frequently about 10 years ago. You can Google them, they use opposable piston technology. There is no recoil. The trigger is phenomenal. I haven’t shot this Since last summer. I pulled it out not knowing how it was cited in, and proceeded to shoot these two groups at yards.

Had to share while I had it out.

Nope. it is an under lever, Fixed barrel. You have to cock it three times, but it’s pretty easy each time you cock. Each time you pull the lever it ratchets both pistons back further.

can you imagine having the ability to take wood and metal, from scratch, and building something as complex and beautiful as this rifle?

And it’s a completely self-contained machine.

Great shooting and a fine example of the rare bird. There is a guy I used to see at FT shoots in Morro Bay who bought 5 of them from a collector and shot FT with one of them. The collector would only sell them as a lot and specified that he had to compete with them. If I remember right he developed some overuse injuries from the thousands of cocking cycles required in practice and various matches and had to limit his use. One thing I regret was not asking him to try one out! I rarely see them for sale any more, and they are quite pricey when they do appear.

You are a lucky man! The holy grail of springers. Haven't seen one for many years. They used to be fairly common in FT, but you don't hear much about them anymore. Too valuable to shoot?

Very nice! I got to see several happy ( did I say Happy! ) people picking up theirs from the last batch ever imported and lucky enough to fire several older ones. Know a fellow who actually Squirrel hunts with one regularly.

Can you imagine trying to convince a newer airguners we used to Mail green cash over seas.

Nice shooting, especially for a springer! Would love to know more about the opposing pistons. The RWS-54 has also an ingenious recoilless design (rail-slide), but makes the entire rifle heavy.

I believe I saw a Wiscombe rifle in the pre-owned section of AOA for $4000 about 3 years ago. Stayed there and about a couple of moths ago it went below $3000....now it's gone .

I so wish someone would pick up the design and make something similar again. I would love to see a 12 FPE version.

If this and the Dual Magnum had a baby it could be shot at 2 different power levels. If we can have a year-long wait for the top series 2000.00 to 3500.00 PCP's I think there is a good market for high-quality recoilless air rifles.

On a good day it will hover around a half an inch at 50 yards. I never really shot it much at 25 yards. It’s the Godzilla of airguns, Are usually take it deep.

There is one available right now on the yellow forum. It’s a bit spendy for a single barrel, but has absolutely fantastic wood.

I would bet it has the 12 foot pound port available.
