Shoot-to-reset Targets

We finally had a chance to get a good day of testing in on these shoot-to-reset targets. The squirrel and green target have 3/16" paddles and arms while the rooster and grey target have 10ga paddles and arms. They seem to work well with guns ranging from 12fpe to 20 fpe. We were able to consistently reset all the targets with a 12fpe gun at 55 yards.

We hit them with 30 and 40+ fpe guns as well. This seemed to be a bit much for the squirrel and rooster. The reset paddle would flip the top paddle up so hard that often enough it would bounce back down. The heavier guns might also be a bit much for the paddles as they showed a bit of denting and possible bending.

There are a few changes we are looking at to improve the function of the targets but we have all winter to play.

The short ones, with the kill zone wheel on top, are also supposed to have a wheel on the bottom. We need to make it a bit taller for those who don't cut their grass lol. Having them so they can mount down to a 2x8 or block is something we're also looking at. They can be pegged to the ground but except for getting hit with the .25 pellets it hasn't been necessary. A surface mount for the targets on a post would be a good idea as my property is clay and it gets pretty hard pounding come summer.
