Get 257texan, maddog stock, scuba bottle, external reg, good scope and adjustable moab base. Your set for longrange. If you just punch paper at long range or do some small to medium game hunting there is no competition against 257.

What are you calling long range? Informal or comp limited?
I'm going to surmise you're picking a true big bore dedicated slug shooter for the purpose of well past 300 yards and you'll be shooting in all conditions.
I went with a .257 Scandalous with 2 Lilja barrels. Not good to be switched back & forth, just going to test some things but it will be a dedicated platform once I do.

I don't think that's a Mad Dog stock. Correct me if wrong & or please share who crafted that beauty. Also what's the barrel make & twist on her?

You are correct I think its made by guntuning in poland. I bought it as unfinished second grade stock last one there was far 100€ or so. Barrel is stock 257texan barrel from LW 1:14twist 250/257bore.

The .457 Texan shoots pretty good long range as well. I’ve also seen good results with Extreme Big Bore rifles. Those are two that I have actual experience with, can recommend both.

Got ,257- ,308 texan 357 -457 texan they all shoot tight groups at ,100 yds know I got a 452 pbba that the one I'm going to try long range getting it together and ready new to shootings bench rest

I am interested in what your set up is on the Texan 357 for the tight group at 100yds. I have had some nice groups with High Arc 173 grain with first three shots then it opens up. I have done some minor lapping to see if rough barrel is culprit, but still opens up after first three or so shots, even tethered with regulator.

1000fps+ everything you can stabilize out of 1-14twist rate. They do not have regulators. If you shoot it from bench you tether it with external reg from scuba bottle and if you hunt you get few even shots out from it thats enough for hunting. Its not like you use 200fpe long range slug gun to dispatch rats or some other critters.
