Shipping $$ or pay tax?

I am purchasing a compressor. I have two US retailers that I can buy from. Both retailers list the compressor for the same price and both are the same distance from me. One retailer has free shipping but charges tax; the other retailer is tax free but charges shipping. Total cost from either retailer is within $10 of each other (retailer charging tax is slightly less). Both are reputable. Which one would you buy from?

I say go for the dealer that has been around the longest. Check with the BBB in each location to se if there any serious complaints.

One thing I would try as it has worked for me in other purchases. See if cash will get you a better price it can’t hurt to ask. I see that in another linebof business B&H camera in. NYC eats the tax if you use their credit card I think that will become the norm with the larger vendors the smaller one will then have to go for cash discounts just to compete.
