If you want cheaper shipping with Pirate Ship then UPS and USPS are your options. I think they all kick the packages around equally.

^^^^ This. 100%. You get commercial rates through them and save a TON of money. A $100 charge for a big bulky shipment turns into $25-30 or so. I've used them for over a year now. I used Endicia for commercial rates prior to switching, but Endicia charged a fee. Pirateship is free.
If the shipping company asks what is being shipped, the answer is of course: "Pneumatic tools"
But you don't have to make any such declarations through Pirateship.

The only way you will ever cash in on a claim is if you use the actual nomenclature for the item. Pirateship.com has been a YOUGE help for these past couple of years with many guns shipping for under $16.00.

You never mentioned what gun you're shipping. Removing stock will shorten package length, make shipping cheaper (hopefully) & lessen possibility of stress damage due to a longer package.

When shipping for service, contact the service entity first as they have a list of things that need to be addressed such as UNLOADED, removal of scope or any other non-stock/unneeded items, moderator, magazine and the like.
They will also suggest a maximum air charge bar if shipping a PCP for instance.
They normally want the barrel removed as well, at least FX does, and if you have a factory hard case, that is best. Just box up the rifle in the hard case with the factory foam, then put the hard case in a cardboard box for shipping.
It's also smart to include your contact information in the hard case along with the repairs needed.

Most recent send for repair , usps quote near 50$, fedex same, called ups store and was told 35$ but when i came with package the price was 48$ so i drove to staples office supply and sent it out ups for 31$, no clue why ground shipping varies so much, always sent as sports equipment.

Thank you for all the good information. I have the pellet gun boxed and a label ready to go from Pirate Ship.
I also play mountain dulcimer and sometimes need to ship those. This will be a great service. The last one I shipped weighed less than 3 lb packed and was $34 at USPS. Pirate Ship will save me some money for more toys.
