🌳Sherwood Airgunners 🌳 Monthly indoor BR match for February 11, 2024

Sherwood Airgunners 25yd Indoor Bench Rest match for February 11, 2024.

We had a great day of shooting and comradarie at our monthly bench rest match with some potential record scores for the USARB record books! I will give you the breakdown of categories and scores followed by the potential records.

In Spring Piston we had 4 shooters with our ace Al Duster coming out on top once again with a sizzling 240/27Xs. Al shoots a Diana 75 topped with a March scope and his 3 cards were 246/7x…249/11x & 249/9x = 740/27x. This is a new USARB spring Piston record if his score stands up once officially scored. Al’s been chasing this record since he got into BR shooting about 4 years ago. I as a match director love to see when hard work and determination pays off. World class shooting Al and we will keep our fingers crossed on this potential record until I here back from USARB.

In light varmint we had 3 shooters and Doug Cunningham shot a awesome score of 749/39x with his Rapid Air Weapons BM 500 and Sightron combo. Doug's cards were 250/16x…250/11x & 249/12x = 749/39x. Congradulations on a great match for Doug!

In Heavy Varmint we had 13 shooters and welcomed 3 new shooters to the club in Ernie Connover ,Lou Jimenez and Matt Muse shooting their first match with us. In 3rd place Eric Jones shot a 743/38x count. In second place Doug Cunningham shot a 748/51x. On the top of this heavily contested division Jeff Swartz shot a truly outstanding 750/58x for another potential USARB indoor BR record. Jeff's cards were 250/21x…250/16x & 250/21x = 750/58x match total.

I am truly blown away by the day that we had at Sherwood Airgunners! The friendly atmosphere and level of competition are truly world class and I am proud of all our competitors to what they have helped us become at Sherwood Airgunners! To see the new guys with the level of enthusiasm they have and see veteran shooters helping them at the level that they do is great for our sport! Also to see the level of competition like Al Duster and Jeff Swartz truly inspired all of us to become better shooters.

Getting back to Al and Jeff and their potential records. There cards are being sent to USARB where they will be officially scored. It usually takes a few weeks before we get word back from them. This is the second time we have sent in cards to be scored for a record and last time the scores held up. They actually added a point to Als Third place record in the USARB indoor Piston record. So congradulations to these guys and also to Doug Cunningham who isn't far behind with the scores he put up.

Lastly I want to thank all the guys that shot with us it truly has become a great atmosphere with top competition. I apologize for not taking pictures during the match. Sometimes being as busy as I am during a match scoring cards and such things get overlooked and that definitely was the case yesterday. Awesome match guys and thankyou for helping Sherwood Airgunners become a great venue for indoor Benchrest and Field Target matches…you guys rock!🤘

Sincerely
MatchDirector,
KeithWalters
