Sherwood Airgunners Indoor 25yd Bench Rest match report for December 10, 2023.
Sherwood Airgunners kicked off our winter indoor bench rest match Sunday Dec.10,2023. We had 12 shooters participate and a few of the 12 shooting multiple categories. Jeff Swartz and Eric Jones coming all the way from Cincinnati and Columbus shot 3 categories for a busy day of shooting!
We had one new shooter,Bob Wofter join us for his first attempt at airgun bench rest and he did quite well! Thanks Rick Smelko for being Bob down to Sherwood and letting him use your rifle, I have a feeling we will be seeing Bob again.
In Light Varmint which is sub 12ft lbs we had 4 shooters. Doug Cunningham took second place shooting his RAW TM1000 set in a bench rest stock. Jeff Swartz which is no stranger to the bench rest podium shot his Theoben MK2 to a first place win. Jeff's 3 cards were 248/13x, 249/11x & 248/12x = 745/36x total. Great shooting Jeff using that ole gurl!
In spring Piston we had 5 competitors with Paul Nickerson getting 2nd place shooting a Diana 75. Al Duster once again got 1st place also shooting a Diana 75. Als scores were 244/10x, 243/10x & 242/3x = 729/23x. Great shooting as always Al.
In Heavy Varmint we had 9 competitors and a new to airguns Bob Wofter shooting in his first match with us. Carl Lucas and Jeff Richards each shot a cumulative score of 744 which the was decided by X count where Carl had 31 and Jeff 44 Xs. Congrads to Jeff on the second place finish and Carl the 3rd place finish. Eric Jones took first place with a 249/15x, 248/12x, & 249/13x = 746/40x. Eric used a borrowed Rapid Air Weapons TM1000 from Jeff Swartz shot for the first time. My guess is Jeff won't be letting Eric use his rifles any longer

The overall high X count was 44Xs shot by Jeff Richards using his Mac1.
Thankyou everyone for coming out and supporting Sherwood Airgunners and spending your Sunday with us. Although I can't shoot these matches due to my scoring obligations it certainly is great seeing everyone enjoying these fine air rifles at our facility. These scores will be accumulated for the King of Sherwood Bench Rest award which will be your top 3 scores of our 4 matches.
