. i love mine. it's a model cb , tho. it gets regular full power on 6 pumps , but it'll do 820 fps on 14 pumps with the crappy cylindricals pellets (which are ok for chronographing). i found a really good adaptor for silencer and silenced it , and i mounted a 2-7x32 scout scope up on the barrel so i can easily pump. pistol scope will work too. the sheridan barrels before crosman bought and made them are excellent with better pellets. i have no idea how sheridan survived with the cylinder pellets , but with jsb's and the scope it's fairly easy to get dime size groups at 30-40 yards. mine steroid is a mid 1970's bluestreak , and it is incredibly accurate and consistent. i kept the combo in the back of my jeep forever. if you send yours to tim (mac1) you may have to wait for 5-6 months and calling him doesnt make it any faster.....but it's worth it. ive learned to just let him do his thing when i send him stuff for power tuning (mark 1 hot tune was awesome. 3-4 mos). i have a regular one that is just about the same (mid 1970's) and it is also plenty accuarte with jsb exacts. i would put my steroid up against any other airgun i have except for my walther lgv. i feel like sheridan rocker safety rifles are the best american airguns ever made. i get a lot of my parts from them (mac1) . hope that helps. - paul. https://raneair.webs.com/sheridans.htm

I have a dissenting opinion. I have several Streaks and one of them got the Steroid treatment. My thinking back then was, “as long as I’m shipping it to CA, (to replace the seals) I may as well pay more and get the Streroid upgrade”. If I had it to do over again, I wouldnt bother with the upgrade. Also, there are a handful of qualified guys to replace the seals in your gun. Before sending your gun anywhere, try the alcohol flush that has revived many a pumper that wasn’t holding air. It has worked for me twice and may have revived the gun I had Steroided, had I known this trick at the time. Basically, you squirt a little alcohol into the pump tube, let the gun sit muzzle-up overnight, then pump and fire it. You should oil the piston cup because alcohol can cause the rubber to deteriorate. It may take several days of this routine to blow out the crud. GOOGLE “alcohol flush, Sheridan.”

The Steroid tune provides “beefier” parts, but these old Sheridans are built like tanks to begin with. The Steroid gives you more velocity per pump, such as giving the same velocity with three pumps as with five pumps in a non-Steroid gun. I have no problem pumping it five times anyway. If you’re shooting a short distance or inside, I see no need for higher velocity. Also, the Steroid tune gives the gun a louder bark. If you have neighbors to worry about, this may be a problem. Finally, I pumped my Steroided Streak to 14 only once, and it sounded like a firearm. Besides that, It probably wont hold more than 12 pumps without retaining air.

Sent a nice 1970 Blue Streak off for the basic steroid tune, no extended fore arm. It came back with a different end plug, a newer style that's stronger, but my old original didn't come back with it. I used 14.3 Crosman Premiers and it shot 700 fps with the full 14 pumps. I was expecting much more, so I pulled out a factory stock gun and pumped it 14 times only to find it shot 695 fps. So I gained 5 fps over a stock gun. I was a bit shocked, but figured it didn't really matter since the gun needed a reseal at the time anyway. Both are gladly sold on to buy better things.
