Sheridan Blue Streak Leaks

 My 1964 Sheridan Blue Streak air rifle gets, maybe, 150 fps from 8 pumps and leaks out an entire charge in a few hours.

The gun is a beauty, the factory Williams peep model, and I want to have it rebuilt.

What should I have done, and by whom?

How difficult is the rebuilding operation? Easy step by step instructions given or do you need to know what you're doing to complete it?

After reviewing Mac's instructions I know I can't rebuild it myself.

I rebuilt my model C and did OK. It's probably a good idea to send it out if you're not confident you can do the work, you can damage the gun if you're not careful with reassembly.

I totally agree with JohnL57. Send it out if you're not confident. I have rebuilt quite a few Sheridan/Benjy's over the years and found re-installing the valve retainer nut can be a little tricky. Cross threading this nut into the valve housing would be a serious fail.

Just give the seals a good soaking of lube and let it sit a few days before you tear it apart or send it out. It could just be very dry.

I did have a Silver Streak that wouldn't hold air revive after I cleaned and lubed the pumping tube and replaced the pump cup. It won't hurt to try lubing with pellgun oil or pure silicone grease.

Yes the Sheridan and Benjamin can be tricky at times even with the right tools. I have rebuilt 80-90 of them and it seems like every 5th one has some little extra problem.
