Shark Tank vs Omega Tank

I have a compressor from Joe B. It has worked well over the years. I spend time between a small, remote town in Alaska and Arizona. The compressor is in Alaska. I bought a used Tiger Shark in Arizona and it now is in Alaska and will stay here. I have had no problems with the Joe B products and his support is very good. I have also traded with AoA and have been very happy with them.

I need another bottle that will stay in Arizona; it will be a big bottle. It will be filled at the local club so there is no need for a compressor. I will buy new because its certification date likely will match my own shooting shelf life.

Any input from anybody that has had experience with the Shark tanks and the Omega tanks as to whether there is any advantage or disadvantage of one over the other? I will get the botte set up with full valve and hose. Any price difference is really not determinative.

I think it is great that both these tanks are available for us and any input is appreciated.

Ranchibi, I have his Tiger Shark set up with both gauges and it is great. I am totally agreed with you about being able to monitor both fill gauge and tank pressure. I think the same set up can be duplicated with the Omega. I definitely would confirm that with AoA if I go the Omega route.

I think I would be broke if I lived a mile from Joe's place.

You forgot to mention the SLOW FILL it's a must.

LOL....yeah, I have known Joe for a long time, we are good friends! I am glad you will check the Omega from AoA about the gauges! I wish you well in your tank purchase 👍.

I forgot that feature! Thank goodness you did kayaker!...🤗👍! It slows down the fill rate, makes it easier to control....you have that feature on your Tiger Shark 👍. You really see the slower fill on a large tank, on my Notos it still is a tad quick and harder to control.

AOA has a video on the Omega tank and the guy explains the valve features (incase you did not see that). You can also go on Amazon and buy a tank boot and the protective plastic mesh for the tank. I think I may still have some pictures of what I did to mine if your interested. Good Luck with what ever you buy .

I turned to Brancato for my Tiger Shark and Great White.

While I really appreciate they're build integrity, I have to say that if parts are needed for any of the shut-off valves, Brancato will only sell the entire valve and not just the part to actually fix the issue.

They claim that the valves are made in Italy and they cannot buy parts, only the entire valve.

I researched for many hours trying to locate that manufacturer without success because all that I needed was the seat, the rest of the valve was in perfect shape.

A machinist here on AGN was able to make one for a minimal fee, and it works great!

That is the only drawback that I have with Brancato tanks, plus they are expensive, but to me worth it.

One DOT certified CF 9 liter tank is very much the same any other DOT certified CF 9 liter Tank. The various manufactured valves and fill whips are all very much different from each other. Pick the valve you like and buy accordingly. I had a JB valve at one time and I didn't like it. It may have been my imagination but the JB valve appeared to have a larger internal volume than other valves and lost a lot of air when bled.

By the by, my personal preference is the made in Pakistan and sourced from England "JubIlee' valve.

That is exactly what I did, I called and asked and was told that they, Air Tanks for Sale, Joe B., can only buy the entire valve, no parts are available. This happened earlier this year, say around April.

Hello AGN'ers! I have a Tiger Shark from Brancato, it has a small leak, I assume through the brass, threaded valve stop with the Teflon (?) insert. Brancato will NOT sell just that piece, they only sell the entire 'top end parts' as a single sale item at $90 + Shipping/Handling. I tried the...

When I asked about the manufacturer to see if I could purchase my need direct from them, I was then told that they are of Italian manufacture and would not tell which manufacture to contact.

You had a MUCH better outcome than me. Glad that it wasn't any trouble for you, it certainly was for me.
