I'm going through the Impact owners manual one more time before I go to the range. On page eleven at the bottom of the page it states, never use the gun below the set regulator pressure as damage may occur Is set regulator pressure a factory setting? What is the set regulator pressure? I'm learning...

FX USA told me a couple weeks ago that there is no bottom limit to regulator setting as far as damage to the gun goes, but that below 80 the regulator may not function as well. I think that warning refers to shooting after your bottle pressure is below the reg setting, which is itself no big deal but if you get very low you could damage the valve because there is so little pressure resisting the hammer that the valve slams forward too hard.
Otherwise, for low reg settings you just decrease hammer by the wheel or preload screw or both and you're OK. IOW, when you decrease pressure you should decrease hammer. I think there is a little translation error in the manual giving the impression that the factory setting is the "official" one, when what they mean is that once you get much below the set regulator pressure your hammer may be too much.

You also risk getting pellets/slugs stuck in your barrel if you shoot too low below the reg setting.
just make it a point to count how many shots or magazines used to get you to reg pressure and just don’t ever exceed that amount and you’ll never have to worry about shooting below reg pressure.

That gauge on the underside of the gun back by your magazine shows your set reg pressure. If you didn’t know this, you better do some serious reading and ask questions before heading to the range. If your totally green to PCP’s, you picked a hell of a gun to learn the ins and outs of PCP’s. You dove in the deep end of the pool.

Vetmx, Thats why I'm here asking questions., I'm learning. I plan to just shoot and enjoy the gun before I make any adjustments to it .Went to the range today and came back very impressed. Your right, it is one hell of a gun. Intimidating. I've been watching all the videos I can about the Impact. I'm not new to the shooting sports. I've been around them a very long time.. This is just another avenue of the sport I decided to try. So now the learning begins again... Hope I'm not a PIA to anyone...
