Hey everyone

Steve over at AEAC has been busy learning the 50 FPE .22 Seneca Eagle Claw under lever and MTC Optics Mamba Ultra Lite scope. I just pulled a bunch of pictures from AEAC's Instagram page. Sometime this week you can expect a vlog (candid video log with initial thoughts & impressions), then hopefully next week we'll have a full video review, followed by a GIVEAWAY!

What do y'all think of this smooth-cocking under lever from Seneca?

It isn't quite the firecracker the Sumatra is; but it does have clean lines. Not sure why they ditched the Sumatra's all-metal simple magazine for one with fiddly bits, though shifting the moving parts out of the action and into the magazine likely dropped their costs. Big question for me: how much does the power wheel change the actual power? Is it like the Sumatra where you can drop it from Piggy all the way down to HOSP?

Mr. Steve,

Happy to see another RDW come around! This looks like a'powerful

.22 repeater with an improved underlever from the original, Nice to see

it still has most of the same power as the original, but I believe the Sumatra is more powerful

and has a much tougher magazine; solid metal versus the plastic one in the Eagle Claw,

But at the end of the day, its a handsome and powerful repeater that's good for

airgunners like myself who prefer slugs.

I like the idea of the lever action for a hunter as that ought to equate to fast follow up shot if needed.

I have the Mamba Ultralite 3-10x40PA on my HW50 Hunter and really do like it however I do have to say it has a minor qc issue with the glue/sealant used to seal the ocular lens endbell on in that some of it seeped out onto the surface of the tube. While it can be removed it is kind of annoying that it wasn't done at the plant before packaging. I have seen this on two of them, the first one sent back for the issue I am about to explain next.

The other issue is sort of a major one if part your reason for purchasing this scope is it's inclusion of the ir reticle. To me their design of their on/off button incorporating the battery into the switching the ir on and off action seems like a bad one. By that the battery is in a sort of sliding socket with a pop button switch underneath the battery that the battery interacts with and is also part of the electrical connection, this makes for a very flaky battery connection and a very unreliable ir led. They should have put the battery into a socket that never moves and find some other way of incorporating an on/off switch. I have since found a way to correct this but again it is something that should have been done at the plant or incorporate a different on/off switch all together. If anyone else has one of these and has a flaky ir led and wants it to work you can pm me.

I look forward to Steves report on the scope and gun.

Iv had this gun In 22 full length model for about a month now and put about a thousand rounds through It mostly JSB's ranging from 15.89g to 25.39g and everything in between all shot reasonably well probably the 18.13g the best out to fifty yards a 1" group at a hundred yards things opened up quiet a bit like 3" groups although It was quiet windy att , as far as slugs go It does pretty well using H&N 23g slugs on full power at a hundred yards was around a 2" group but keep In mind this Is not a bench rest gun Its a hunting gun so all In all not to shabby . The power wheels works well lowest setting with 18.13G was around 420 psi on high power around 1060 psi . under lever Is very smooth and cycles the magazine well and IMO back yard friendly , Aesthetically the gun looks great fit and finish Is also good and shoulders well If a little heavy but that fine by me . The trigger sucks right out of the box It was probably over 4ibs which I adjusted down to around 2ibs could do with adjusting down a little more but after adjusting It down I lost the first stage so now Its a trigger with no first stage im kind of hesitant to adjust It down any more ( Ill be Interested to see what Steve over at AEAC has to say about the trigger ) , Oh and It could probably use a depinger ....But all In all for the $$$ Its a great hunting rifle and IMHO worth the money .
