Selling guns

Why is it so hard to sell an airgun here in the UK!!!!
Have been trying to sell one of my air pistols for a little while now on sites like
Gunstar
Shootmart
And all I’m getting is bombarded with hoax buyers…. Taking you through all the process asking questions and then nothing…Thought it would be a lot easier than this. Anybody else encounter these issues?

unless it's less than half price for a top dollar gun here in the USA it's not going to sell unless it's rare..
tough times I got offered $250 for a October 2024 airforce Condor SS 22 caliber
Mark

Not sure about the UK in general, but I got offered $1425 this past week for my FX Boss. That's $425 MORE than what I paid when I bought it used! Guess it depends on the desirability factor & what the market will bear. BTW, I responded with, were I offered 3K for it I WOULD NOT sell! It's my favorite & is virtually irreplaceable! It wasn't a scam in this case either but that happens often here too.

Selling Airguns can be a hassle for sure.
Been thinning my collection down and I’ve had some good guys to deal with and and some bad guys to deal with in my experience. And bunch of lowball offers to. Guess it’s all part of the experience. I’ve heard of a few dealers are taking used guns in for trade on new and used guns, I’m considering trading a 3-4 guns in for a 1 nice gun.

Probably simple supply & demand rules for a niche durable good

but maybe the hassle/ risk factor is too much to justify any used gun price-point. Why bother buying private party when you can give your CC# over to a retailer and have the goods delivered headache free to your door within a few days?

Also for many on here, purchasing the gun of your dreams at the moment probably isn't going to be held up by the difference in used vs new pricing....especially when used prices aren't significantly less than new.

As others have mentioned, desirability and rarity generally drives pricing

It’s a back and forth game. Sellers call them low balls, why I usually don’t send offers unless the seller price is close to correct in my mind. Unfortunately here I would say the vast majority of listed guns aren’t priced close to what they are worth in my mind. They are priced quite a bit higher. I will say that wildcat bt that just dropped ain’t bad. If only it were a 22.

My bid -- 4k ;)
