Seeking guidance regarding the Sumatra 2500 .25 cal

Hello all. I’ve been considering adding one of these rifles to my collection recently. It would be the first air rifle I’ve owned in a caliber larger than .22. The lever action system and adjustable power wheel are both appealing to me. I also appreciate the fact that based upon what I read, the rifle does quite well with cast slugs and heavier pellets. I’d like to hear from folks who have experience with them about what I can expect from the rifle. Should I opt for the full length or carbine version? Will I lose a significant amount of power if I opt for the carbine? I’m also curious as to weather this rifle could be reasonably filled with a hand pulp? Much thanks in advance!

Both respond well to tuning for a bell curve shot string, the Carbine to 80 fpe and the full length about 100 fpe. with heavy ammo. I don't equate hand pumping with powerful bigger caliber guns (high air consumption) that require 3000 psi fills. If you are only going to sight in and hunting you will be ok, but think of all the money you will save on a gym membership!

At full pop you won't see a bell-curve power band; but as Will mentions they can be tuned to exhibit a bell-curve at reduced power (still great power). I've tuned my .22 Sumatra rifle (the older 380cc model) down to 988 FPS with 18.1 grain JSBs to now shoot as well at 100 yards as any pellet rifle at any price.
