Scoring a 3 round competition for overall winner

Question for the competition director experts,

my club/group is having a lil fun benchrest shoot of 3 rounds

25m, 50m and a longer distance for a measured grouping of 5 shots.

whats the best way to determine an overall winner ?

should we just assign points to each placing, eg 10pts for the first place winner of each round, 9 for second so on and tally that?

That's one way to do it. I shoot in some Cast bullet Assoc competition and they use 3 points for first place, 2 pts for second, and 1 for third of course zero if you are out of the top three. Also they shot for a average of groups as in four, five shot groups for average measurement, two 10 shot groups for average and then 20 shots for score for a 60 round match. They have a winner for the 5 shot average, a winner for the 10 shot group average, and a winner for the score agg. And then a winner for the overal Grand agg winner with is the most points accumulated over the course of fire. So then are you going to have classes for different rifles? You almost have to other wise you will have Springers and lower entry level guns shooting against the high dollar top of the line competition guns.
