Scopes ..

I know I’ll get a lot of different answers but what scope does everyone like on their pcp for hunting ? Has the recoil ever been an issue with taking out reticals?
You should probably lead with a max budget to help narrow the answers down some. Knowing the range you plan on shooting would help too.

pcps arnt hard on scopes .. my favorite scope all around is a westhunter 4-16ffp, have several of them .. only time i want something different is close range nutter busting, for that i like a straight light 4x .. and for long range targets shooting from a bench, higher power and scope quality is better .. but general use, yeah that westhunter is satisfying ..

I’ve been looking at the west Hunter . I’m using sorovee & vortex now .

What kind of scope I like can depend on the type of shooting I expect to encounter. Short quick shots up close I like up to 12 power and even less than that. Over 70 yards I want 16 power minimum. That's me.

I also like scopes that transmit a lot of light. But there's a lot of glass that are better than others with cheaper glass and emit more light. Bigger tubes and larger diameter end piece help with light.

I also like a cross hair or reticle that suits my style. Including, I prefer moa. But that's personal. I'm in the USA and we use standard not metric so I find that easier for me to immediately understand.

If I'm shooting from a tripod, bench or so and beyond 70 yards often then I want to try to get beyond 16 power but I have had a lot of luck at 16 power even at 100 yards if scope is quality or conditions allow.

I kind of think this thread is more like: if I had to buy one scope, what would it be?

Well 16 power and good glass. Clear picture.

You didn't ask for any examples but the question seemed pretty open ended.

One small framed scope which is light and has a 30mm tube is that Mtc Cooperhead. It only lacks all the Moa features. It's also expensive but the glass is pretty good. I can Say that if you can afford the 16 power version it's worth looking at. If I was at a bench trying beyond 75 yards regularly then I'd want 20 power minimum. One of many possibilities I'd recommend there is Blackhound brand. I've been using Gen 1 Blackhound for a couple years now. It's rugged and has a good image.

Finally, if you want to film or get a clear image at close range, look for a scope that dials all the way down to 10 yards or meters for parallax.

If you like the Bugbuster size.. Why not get think about spending more cash for an infinitely better image. Like the Hawke 2-7x32?

You'll probably find it cheaper than msrp. And I have one on a rimfire. It's got a good image and dials down to very close range. Plus for me it came in moa

If you got money to spend in that arena then I'd recommend the Dedal Stalker. Fixed power but clear as any scope

For your price range and distance I really like the Vector Veyron 3-12x and 4-16x Compact FFP scope. They are quite clear and have been very nice small scopes for my uses. I would pass on the illumination as it's not so great IMO. Some say the reticle is a bit thin on lower powers, maybe a touch depending on your eyesight, but quite good above 6-8x.

I’m thinking 200/250 range & 50to 75 yrds
I would like to preface that I own no expensive glass. Mine range from around 80-150 dollars max. So some of this is a bit of speculation. The ranges you specify are vastly different. In my opinion, for the 50 to 75 (what I shoot) there are a plethora of 150 dollar and under scopes that will work absolutely fine for the vast majority of us. If you are shooting competitively maybe higher quality glass would be of real use even at closer ranges. However, I find I am able to achieve a higher level of accuracy than I need for small game hunting at 50-75 yards with both my 150 dollar UTG and my 80 dollar center point. Both beyond adequate enough. I’m willing to bet more expensive glass will give you a better shooting experience for sure. Is it absolutely necessary ? Not in my opinion. Others will have to chime in for 200-250 yards as at that range I think there are most likely great benefits to be achieved with higher quality optics. None of which I have ever used.

I think he meant his budget is $200-$250 and his intended shooting range is 50-75 yards

Lol yeah you are definitely correct. I didn’t read that really close. I personally will probably never spend that to shoot 50-75 yards. I don’t think better glass will make me more accurate. Probably would be a much nicer picture and experience though. All depends on personal choice. OP just don’t convince yourself you have to spend that much to be highly effective. I have found in many hobbies it often takes a lot of money to obtain substantially noticeable gains. I would be willing to bet a 250 dollar scope isn’t that much better than a 150 dollar scope.
