I prefer SFP too but I also like 6-24 power scopes on air rifles. I have no issue hunting or pesting with them at 6X from 10 yards or less to 40 yards or so. And on a long shot I can turn them up. But honestly I want the 24X for targets too. Two scopes well within your price range that I like are the Athlon Talos 6-24 and the Vector Veyron 6-24. The warranty on the Vector is only 5 years if I remember right but it is a nice short, reasonably light scope with an illuminated center dot. The Talos has cross hairs so it doesn't meet your spec but it is also illuminated. I got the SFP Veyron from Krale.
Athlon Argos HMR have illuminated center dots and are SFP. There is a 2-12 and a 4-20. List is about $400 so well within your budget. They look nice if you don't mind the relatively simple reticle. There is also the Athlon Heras 6-24x50 SFP. Amazon is asking under $600 for them. It has a center dot and a reticle with markings for hold over. I think it would be my choice if I wanted to spend up to $600 on a scope right now.
