Scopes, UPS and me

Don't know what it is but it's been going on for years. Traded a Crosman rifle I converted to pcp for a Hawke scope. It went out 2nd day air, made it to the wrong address on two occasions, thank goodness the people at the 2nd location saw my phone number on the shipping label and called me. They were only a few miles away so I went to pick it up at their business, just as they were giving it back to the UPS driver. Another time I ordered a new scope, it was to come out of Ohio they offered next day air shipping for free so I took it. That scope finally made its way to me via a visit to New York and CA. that only took them 8 or 9 days to get it to me. More recently I ordered 2 scopes from a big distributor in CA. They sent one to me right away, said the other is back ordered. After about 4 weeks of calling and e-mailing and seeing they had these scopes in stock on their web site I wrote an email demanding my scope or a refund. Got my refund immediately, and half of California got my debit card info the same day. Now last week I ordered a new Leupold out of Louisiana, received an e-mail the same day saying my scope was shipped. Wow, fantastic, suppose to be here Friday. Never showed up. Checked tracking when I got in from work, it missed the Friday delivery because of a late truck. Hope this thing gets here soon. I don't know, from now on I'm just going to go to a gun shop and get it thru them.

I long for the good ole days when most purchases were made face to face. Proprietors were local, dedicated, and accountable. Not so today. More and more we are faced with making on-line purchases of products sight unseen, sold to us not by local, dedicated, and accountable proprietors, but by "warm bodies" hired to be warehouse robots far away. You've had far more than your share of difficulties, but, if this trend continues (and it will), we'll all share in your misery and misfortune.

Not many years ago a truck driver would load his truck and then deliver his load to a dozen different mom and pop shops. Nowadays the driver has to deliver each item to a different household address. Instead of a dozen deliveries, he's making perhaps hundreds of stops. Each stop is an opportunity for error. It may seem convenient to have our goods delivered to our houses. But it's no convenience to deal with the complications and frustrations inherent in replacing mom and pop shops with warehouse marketing.

shoot i work for ups and when i had a wildcat on order the driver could not get it to me lol. wound up getting the tracking # and pulling it off the truck at work :) seriously though at the hub i work at we are experiencing a huge turn over as baby boomers move on and the new generation moves in. with all the new faces and questionable work ethics, "probably sound like a old biddy but these wipper snappers do not seem to want to get sweaty and dirty" the company is experiencing growing and revamping pains. still the best though in my admittedly biased opinion :) and we will continue to improve!!!!

So far I've had no issues ordering and receiving scopes..........

however the delivery of a Discovery scope ordered directly from China was definitely "interesting"..............

On April 26th I ordered a 4-16x50 Discovery VT2 from an amazon retailer for $209.99 + free shipping and the scope arrived at my Roughmont, NC home on May 7th (only 12 days later).

LOL....that scope made in Hunan, China was shipped from a Dubai, UAE warehouse.......then to Liepzig, Germany........then to Cincinnatti, OH........then to Morrisville, NC.........then to my home at Rougemont, NC...............

LOL....doubt that I'll go the "order direct from China route" again, but who knows!
