Scopes for springers

Springer's is there a "master list" of Springer rated Scopes? I know there are many thread here asking what scope, reviewing Scopes, etc but in my recent search for a low cost/ mid cost scope for my new-to-me 97k I've found it very difficult to find good information.

I started with reading reviews and watching reviews but soon found many of the "good" Scopes also weren't good for a spring gun. I emailed various companies asking them directly and even that wasn't totally fool proof. Athlon said only their BTR Scopes could work, Vortex said they all work, and Bushnell told me none of them work. I never got an answer from Discovery and never even considered UTG/Leapers.

This conflicts with other information I've read, with some claiming Bushnell Trophy and above are good and some people writing about how vortex Scopes broke.

I just wondered if there's some source I've missed that at least summarized what works for a Springer. I ended up buying a Bushnell AR but after them telling me it won't work now I'm wondering if I should send it back.

I have Hawke Airmax scopes on my AA and Weihrauch rifles. They continue to serve me very well.

I've had a Hawke AirMax 4-12X40 on my R1 (HW80) magnum springer for years and it's great. I love the fine glass etched reticle with it's multiple hold over points. I originally had a 6.5-20X42 Hawke on it but the rig was a little heavy for offhand shooting which is what I mainly do.

I hate to say it, but luck of the draw has a strong affect on the outcome. I have put cheap $20 bubble-package scopes on springers, and they miraculously held up. I put odds in my favor by selecting fixed magnification scopes without any adjustments but the eyepiece. I additionally stacked O-rings on the ocular (eyepiece) to prevent vibration creep. I also had a Leopold on a RWS model 48 and a 52 which held up for years. My UTG scopes are on the higher end of their offerings, and include parallax and etched reticle, and they have held up to the Benjamin Trail springers they were tossed onto. The simple fact is some highly rated scopes can die on a springer, and junk scopes can defy prediction and survive as well. The only scopes i have seen die on one of my springers was the dreaded "crosspoint" which was shipped with the airgun. It has all perplexed me. Who survives and who dies on a springer seems to be more of a scatter-plot than a curve. I wish you luck with any choice, as luck has proven the critical factor for me.

I put UTG's on both of my gas ram guns because they advertise them as "tough enough for magnum spring guns", and they have a good warranty. 

I have blown 4 of them up so far and they keep replacing them. I keep a spare new one handy to swap out when one of the others fails. Works out fine.

I have two Rex 3-9x40 mounted on break barrels. I purchased the scopes from Flying Dragons Air at $70 each and they have clear glass and hold zero. The HW97 has a Hawke Airmax that costs a lot more. Both scopes do a great job.

Thanks for all the opinions, I decided to go with a Hawke Airmax. I’m going to send the Bushnell back, it was definitely nice but partly because Bushnell told me it won’t hold up to a springer and partly because I like the Hawke amx reticle better.
