Have a Optisan Mamba 4-16x44 lite which I ran an experiment on. Place a tape measure at 14 yards and check the distance between two recital points for two different magnifications. At "4X" it measured 6.75" between and at "16X" it 2.125". So I expected at 16X the distance between points would be 1/4 that at 4X. The math 2.125/6.75 is 3.16. So next went through same exercise at 55 yards and ended up with a multiple of 3.
Am I missing something here? Shouldn't one see 4 times as much distance between scope's markings when zooming from 16X down to 4X, 16/4 = 4?
