Scope turret dialing

#1-SWFA SS AND PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING (SPECIFICALLY) MADE IN JAPAN (MUST STATE MADE IN JAPAN) FOR EXAMPLE BUSHNELLS SIGHTRONS NIGHTFORCE VORTEX WEAVERS AND USA LEUPOLDS AND OLDER USA MADE BURRIS... THATS ONLY IF YOU EXPECT TO CONSTANTLY KEEP ON CLICKING WITH EACH AND EVERY SHOT REPEATEDLY AND RELIABLY. CHINESE KOREAN PHILLIPINES I PERSONALLY DONT TRUST AND JUST HOLD OVER AND RESULTS AND OPINIONS WILL VARY BUT I DONT WANT TO RISK IT. Yo!

He ain’t wrong... just verify the distances. At the farther distances variances in the clicks can become apparent. Doesn’t make a difference if you verify the distances with actual hits instead of a ballistic app. The higher priced scopes variances are less. The Sightrons & Bushnells I have owned were great, clear glass and the clicks were repeatable just not perfectly measured. Repeatability is more crucial than perfect MOA or Mils. You just have to know how much they’re off and compensate.

JOEWAYNERHEA does some great videos of different scopes with no B S ,,I have 3 HAWKE ,,1 VORTEX,,,.,., but the 2 SWFA 3 ,15, 42 ,scopes that I have, i would recommend to anybody looking for a dependable, repeatable decent priced good glass ..I believe SWFA runs a 4 th of JULY and BLACK FRIDAY sale at about 20 % off good luck and check them videos out PAT

Currently I have the Hawke sidewinder 6.5-20 and AEON 3-12x50 SF and on my crown currently is ATHLON 6-24x50 but I have impact coming in and want to start turn dialing so I want to make sure if any of the scopes came up in discussion.

I love the Hawke but I'm use to seeing in videos ppl having turrets that have like step down and up brackets and didn't know if those help more with sticker placement than just regular turn turrets

I shoot almost everyday and use both holdovers or dial elevation. On my home range 40 to 100 yards, I repeatedly dial elevation with my Athlon Helos BTR. The repeatability of the settings is awesome to me. Dial 2 MOA, hit at 50 yards, 5 MOA, hits at 64 yards, dial 3 MOA, hits at 55 yards, back to 40 yard zero, hits at 40 yards. This confirmed on targets, black walnut husk, pests, etc. Prior to the Helos I exclusively used holdovers, with dialing my hit ratio has gone up. Going forward for me this is a critical feature, I want to be able to dial as often as I please. Still very happy with my Helos.

I like to use dialing instead of holdover for a couple reasons, namely because it's how I shoot my powderburners (consistency in practice) and it allows me to adjust for the windage better, as I get to use the entire horizontal line of the reticle.

I personally have two setups, a Hawke 6-24 FFP and a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24 FFP. Between the two the Vortex is definitely better, although I really appreciate the Hawke's screw-in scope caps. I have dope cards for the Vortex on the sides of my Crown's bottle, and I have a reticle intersect on the scope cap of the Hawke, which allows me to dial if I have the time or use an established holdover if I need to get the shot off. The Hawke is on my Wildcat so I do more offhand shooting and the scope cap holdover works well. The Vortex has done an excellent job so far dialing out to 160 yards and back in and holding zero, so I can fully endorse it's reliability with regards to my experience. I'd also recommend going with an FFP when you purchase as you can use the reticle markings regardless of magnification if you do decide to use holdover either with an intersect chart or a drop chart.

If you do decide to use dialing for your elevation adjustments, I'd recommend you plug everything into ChairgunPro, get a drop chart for every 5 yards, then shoot that chart out to your desired range. Using the chart will get you close to where you need to be at each distance, then you can fine tune it and record the settings. After that you can either print off the chart or order something like this (http://scope-werks.com/viewitem.php?productid=351) that will give you the extra room for your markings on the turret.

Here's another great thread on turret tapes: https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/hawke-chairgun-pro-turret-tapes/
