Scope Recommendations for .30 Matador R5

Try the AIM Sports Alpha6 4.5-27x50 from Budk $206.99 ($229 regular) specifically ask for Cassandra in the morning only and must be before 4pm their time specifically for the 10% deal on that scope and other order girls won't know anything nor will say They are backordered. It's glass brightness and clarity is comparable and superlative to other brands of Chinese made mainstream scopes costing 2x-4x the price and has an unmatched illuminated reticle that's daytime visible.

If you rather pay more for this scope $283 at Optics Planet. Some people really like paying more for their items believe it or not.

Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 or 2.5-20x50. Both focus down to 11 yards. Kahles K318i 3.5-18x50 (I think it focuses down to 25 meters). Delta Stryker HD 4.5-30x56. I think it also focuses down to 25 meters.

Hey you really wanna give that guy a heart attack or what

Thanks for these suggestions. Both are at the extreme end of quality. Yo, I’m definitely not interested in Chinese optics and as much as I like the suggestions of the Nightforce and the Khales, they cost more than I’m willing to put into a scope at this time. Anything in the middle? Anyone with experience with the Sightron S-TAC4-20x50FFPZSIRMH or any similar scope in the Leupold line?

Hard to have a scope conversation without the discussion ending up on the top shelf offerings. I'd much rather hear about people's experience with the scopes they consider inferior, and what about it they didn't like. Might be people are talking smack on scopes they never owned based just on where it was made. Yeah- you can always got top shelf if you have and want to spend the money, but if you don't, you want to get the most for your limited dollars at a lower price point. Good luck having that convo on HERE without being made to feel like a jackass for not spending $2,000+ on a scope.

Anyway, from my experience in budget and mid-range scopes, a good scope at the 400 dollar mark is the Vortex Diamondback, if have $500 a very popular scope is the Hawke Sidewinder. Optisan has some good offering in this price range as well. I did not find anything in the Athlon line to be that impressive at these price points.

I own the SWFA SS 10X AND 20X AND 3-15X FFP AND SFP MIL QUAD.

The 10x is a lot clearer than the 20x which kinda bummed me out being a fixed power i hoped it would have been at least as clear as the cheap Alpha6 when compared at 20x. My old Simmons 44Mag 6.5-20x front focus at 20x looks better too. My new overpriced IMHO Hawke sidewinder30 6-24x56 FFP is also clearer at 20x.

The $299 on clearance sale at SWFA front focus JAPAN BUSHNELL TAC 5-15x40 Mildot (perfect nicely set at15x) is real close in optical clarity and brightness and has a better more pleasant eyebox and sight picture than my SWFA SSs. Old school front focus seems to have an unexplainable clarity advantage IMHO.

That S-TAC is made in the Philippines it's a decent scope like a Burris almost as good as Japan old school style affordable glass. They were on sale at DVOR last month IIRC $315.00 for the Optics Planet exclusive version. I can't comment on clicking those since I haven't tried and only click with Japanese and European made scopes.

If you're not wanting Chinese scopes then all of the Athlons that are not the $1799.99 JAPAN Cronus are out. All other Athlons are Chinese even the $1199.99 Ares ETR 34mm is Chinese like the new TAC Vector 34mm and so are most Vortex that are under $1000 Some Filipino though and 90-95% of all scopes under $1200.00 are Chinese.

Don't ever look through an Alpha6 4.5-27x50. Your future expectations will probably be 10x worse and nothing but disappointments as I am currently stressed over no more wow factors till you get so annoyed with Chinese scopes and buy a bunch of $1200-$1400+ Japanese scopes and a March-F.

Checkout the Athlon Midas Tac line great scopes around the $600 mark. Also Arkens are great if you can find one. Those are the best I've dealt with.

Same here!

For whatever reason this particualr scope in the Athlon lineup turned out awesome!

A friend and also a highly respected person in the AG world tried out quite a few scopes in this price range and he settled on the Midas TAC as #1 so far. I agree, except I wish they'd put in a all .2 mil reticle.
