I am looking for a scope for a Taipan Veteran 177, most of my shooting would be under 100 yards. Can you please recommend a decent scope under 200-250. Also, should I go for a variable scope of fixed power, if fixed power, what would be the optimum magnification?

Only scopes for that budget can I think of that's worth bothering with are the variable power Discovery VT3 or Vortex crossfire 2 BDC with the AO. Yo!

Look for a BUSHNELL NITRO on clearance. Very hard to beat optical quality without spending at least double to triple the NITRO clearance prices. Better yet if you can find a BUSHNELL FORGE then go for it. Yo!

Plenty other blurry brands to choose from the $350-$650 price range though. But I'm real critical about clarity maybe too critical and maybe you won't mind a blurry scope or won't even notice. Yo!

The Athlon Argos BTR 6-24x50 FFP Gen 1 is $250 at Amazon. Pretty nice scope for the money. The Gen 2 is $399. Or that Bushnell Yo recommends seems really nice.

If you don't mind going used, you can probably find a decent Leupold in that price range. Or, check out some of Vortex's offerings.
