Scope recommendation for new pcp

I have a an Air Arms S510 Ultimate Sporter .177 coming and need help in choosing a scope and rings. I'm just a back yard plinker so max distance will be 50yds. This will be my first pcp. I'm excited about this gun and want to pair it up with a good clear scope. Right now the Athelon Argos 6-24x50 has my attention (high rings?), but I'd appreciate member suggestions re other scope/ring combinations that would fit my $500.00 budget. Thanks in advance. Uglyjohn.

I'm sorry as my choice may ruffle some feathers ... but I am sold on the Aztec Emerald. I have had the Aztec Emerald 5-25x50 now for a little over a month and I swear by the darn thing. For the price point ($400) I really don't think you could do any better unless you were to go with the Sightron or the SWFA ... but for some reason I just love that Aztec for it's ability to hold POA and the EXTREMELY POSITIVE clicks and adjustments to windage and elevation ... no mushiness in there whatsoever ... when you move it over 2 clicks to the left, you know darn well that it moved two clicks to the left. The ability to repeat itself through multiple tracking boxes is better than anything I have ever seen ... not at 20 yards as I have seen some people do but at 45 yards. The reticle is absolutely fantastic with 10 POA above the center dot and 30 below. The lines are very fine so they don't hide your target. At 65 yards where I am zeroed at ... the center dot doesn't even cover the .25" target I am shooting at on 25X. The zoom is clear throughout the entire range from 5Xto 25X. My Hawke Sidewinder seems to look just a little more vivid in the sight picture ... it seems that the greens are just a little more green, the blues just a little more blue, the reds just a little more red ... but truthfully, not by much ... and certainly not enough to justify the price point of the Hawke. I am using FX No Limit mounts on it and they are as good or better than anything I have ever mounted ... methinks the FX mounts go for about $82 and the Aztec goes for $399 from AoA and the scope has a lifetime warranty. Just my two cents ... hope it helps.

I have a AA S510 with a BKL rings and a Hawke Sidewinder Tac. If I were going to do anything different I would buy an Athlon Argos 34X instead. I like magnification for target shooting. I have two Argos scopes 34X on other rifles and they have a little bit clearer glass than the Hawke Tac 25X. My 20X Hawke Tac is clearer than my 25X Hawke TAC also. Price is excellent also. Argos is also a FFP scope and can match turrets to the reticle (MOA=MOA & MIL=MIL).

BKL rings are awesome rings for 50 yard shooting. They also self center on the the rail. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036JX072/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hi! Orville! I have the same Rifle as you and the AirMax 4-16 scope mounted on it. The wheel that comes with the scope will need one of the legs cut out and also about 1/4 of the ring removed for you to be able to access the magazine or in my case I use a Rowan single shot loader.
Hawke also has a larger 6" wheel available that you will only need to cut out the one appropriate leg and can leave the complete outer ring in place and still access the mag or s.s.loader if you use medium mounts, high mounts will probably make the outer ring of the larger ring come into play! If I was more of a computer guy I would include some pictures (sorry) Hope this helps!! I was stumped just like you but it worked out to be a minor problem!!
If you send me your e-mail I would be glad to send you some pictures that way as I can do that!! Good luck with your set up, Its a good rifle and a pretty fair scope for use as a hunter field target set up at 12 power but I have not tested it at 16 as they have raised the allowable power for next season in the U.S.

At least I'm not the only one that is having huge problems posting pics on AGN. I had it worked out a couple of weeks ago where I could upload them directly from my hard drive and then Michael did something because people were having trouble with their I Phones sending pics that were in storage ... now I'm back at square one again. .... Ahhhh such is life!
