Scope recommendation for Air Arms S400 in .177

Hi,

I'm giving my neighbor my old S400 but want to keep my Leupold scope that was on the gun.

I'm looking for something that will hold up and not give him issues. A minimum of 9 power but more power is welcome. Needs to be able focus down to 10 yards. Max distance would be about 45 yards. It will be shooting at paper.

I would like to spend around $150 or less.

Really believe that UTGs over priced them selves out of the market. They just keep on jacking up their prices with no quality improvement and that 3-9x with front AO should really be selling for around $99 or less realistically.

Made by the same manufacturer in CHINA with life time warranty too.

This one has way better glass and a side focus with a 30 mm tube and has rings.

There is a make offer option on that listing won't hurt to try and offer $50 worst he can do decline and you offer $60 or he can counter at still under his $76.50 asking price with free shipping. Another seller selling the same scope for over $150 plus extra for shipping.

It's a darn fine scope no matter how cheap it is. It's one of the few that I really don't mind using to go shooting with. Much better than most of the crap from China in that price range.

Here's a scope that sells for $489 under the Hawke brand label for only $135 shipped if you love your friend enough.

You probably going to get real jealous of him after looking through this scope so best you buy 2 of these then. They sell for $489 under HAWKE BRAND.

10 yard illuminated side focus and includes lots of extras sun shade flip up covers large side focus wheel etc. Nice and clear at 20x.

It's insane to buy the UTG even at $99 it's an optically inferior scope compared to the Center point 30mm side focus 3-12x44.

I guarantee you will be much happier buying the Center point instead. The clarity and eye box wider field of view is no comparison with the UTG.

Even way way way happier with the 6.5-20x42 if you like illumination side focus and a scope that normally sells for $489 but available now for only $135 shipped.

In any case happy to save you money either way you go.

OMG those NF are way above my pay grade.

I do how ever track some of those NF prices for historic lows and watch what they go for on the used markets.

DVOR had those NF on sale very rare to see several different lines of NF selling $500 to $600 off at any place especially at DVOR about 2 or 3 weeks ago. March was on sale at that time too another rarity at DVOR.

Except for the Helos but I would prefer the Midas line on up for the HD glass. The 6-24x50 Helos went on sale really cheap for $299 around a year or so ago.

Regarding the UTGs the other links from Amazon and Midway with free shipping have them in stock.

I went cheap and took Batman2's advise. I made a $69 offer on the Center Point and the seller agreed. He must get those cheap because he's shipping priority mail.

The Center Point 3-12×44 and adapters came in I installed them on the S400. You were right, it's a damn fine scope for under $100. The glass is good. Everything is smooth. I was quite impressed. It seemed like I was getting some glare but it must have been my alignment. And, those little adapters were perfect.

Would the Center Point work on an Anschutz LG300? It's another old rifle that I'm giving to another friend. It doesn't have much kick but it is a springer. Not sure if this Center Point could hold up.

I have never used a side focus and I like that over the objective focus on my other scopes.
