Scope realignment question

Is there any way to self repair a scope which runs out of windage clicks before it reaches the bullseye at 25 yards? It is not a rings issue nor an alignment issue with a particular rifle. Using a different set of rings or change rifles and the same problem exists. The scope was made in China with a lifetime warranty and naturally the importer who sold it out of business. The only way to get the scope centered in it's windage range is to shim the rear ring 1mm which is very thick. Not being a scope guru is there a way to work on the scope to correct this windage misalignment? There are windage adjustble rings, but they are worth more than the scope. Any scope experts out there who have repaired a scope with a similar issue?

nope , only what you have tried . Best option is use it as a spotting scope buy a scope from a known dealer . How do i know ? bought a scope from a gun show , highly known brand name scope .

Same problem so i sent it in to the Manufacture . got it back saying it was not their scope, a china knock off , total cost to me minus $300 .

Possibly a bad erector spring but replacing it is likely a pretty skilled endeavor.

The practical workaround would be adjustable rings or some other means of angling the body of the scope to put the reticle onto the point of impact. However even if that appears to work on the short term, the potential for the erector spring being bad would not give me confidence that it will be reliable from day to day.

Your problem is a mounting issue and very likely not the scope. If you try to adjust the scope to compensate for a bad mount job, you will likely damage the scope. Remember all adjustments are designed to compensate for manufacturing errors not to fix failures. Your mount issue is a failure. Secondly, your scope turrets are rarely linear on any scope. In that light, you should center your two turret adjustments counting the turns end to end and then dividing by two. Then correct your scope mounts for a twenty five yard zero before making any turret changes.

If you want the best buy the Burris Signature XTR rings with their insert kits they are fantastic and won't put any evidence of mounting on the scope tube and no need to lap. They all ready include multiple off set shim inserts nothing else needed to order. Buy when they go on sale for as cheap as $60. It is insane to pay regular $100 to $150 for them unless you live a plush and comfortable life with plenty of cash to spare.

The cheaper Signature steel rings in the $30 to $50 range works too but you need to purchase the insert kits separately. They are prone to rust so best to always oil them.

Windage adjustable rings such as Millett or similar 2 sided rail mounting screw type work too if you don't need the typical air gun elevation droop compensation.

Sun Optics is probably the easiest fully adjustable rings for elevation and especially for windage won't break the bank in the $25 to $35 price range comes in 1 piece dove tail or 2 piece picatinny or dove tail 1 inch and 30 mm.

Sports Match UK has certain elevation and windage adjustable rings in 1 inch and 30 mm. Priced similarly high as the Burris Signature XTRs.

If your scope windage is out of whack still tracks but shifted to one side and recently used to work fine it's possible the gun or scope was dropped on one side and tube bent which may or may not be visibly noticeable.

Here's an interesting story.

Years back went shooting at a buds place he refused to buy droop compensating mounts and just aim higher to shoot. His gun bumped fell down square on top of the front AO must have bent the tube but visually couldn't tell. It shot straight after that. Mounted that scope on another gun it shot way too high.

Not implying to go damage your scope tube on purpose but if you drop it be sure it's dropped towards the side that's out of adjustment.

Chinese scope company with life time warranty and the importer is out of business. Is it Charley Frear and Aeon brand? Aeon is still alive doing business in other countries.

Hope it doesn't happen to Arken.
