Scope question

I have never had an element but my utg never move. I just got the 4-16 swat for Diana 48 and have another on marauder 25 and they never move. If act have have another utg on my 22 Remington nitro piston and it hasn't moved either. Several guys I know use hawke on their hft pcp and have never mentioned it. I do sometimes think my athlon heras move on my tx but it's always my grip that I changed just a little.

I have springers with basically two scopes Hawke Air Max or Element. All have same conditions.
Why do some rifle scopes religiously need adjustments when sitting a week and others are dead nuts on always?
I have no explanation especially when so many are the same set up. Crow
Temperature and humidity both can affect the air pushing the pellet, and then expanding and contracting internal parts of a scope. On those days that things seem to move, I shoot a few rounds thru to get the air stabilized inside the gun and it typically returns to the original poi.

That cyclops guy had a vid showing a scope that self adjusted .. he zeroed it left the camera on and over time the crosshairs slowly would move off zero.

I got one like you say and scratched my head then just found that vid and just figured it was a self adjusting scope when sitting over a period of time. Sometimes it could walk off zero in hours or a day or 2. . But it aint where i last left it ..

P.s....

Write down your last click adjustments. Then see if your retical moves in that direction. Like if my last adjustment was right it would be off to the right next time used kinda thing.

I like your advice. I think that I start chasing the poi from last time, too soon, after second shot. Have to be a little more patient. Thanks. Crow

I’ll look for that. Curious. I thought they moved (relaxed) when rested.
Thanks Crow

Ive looked for it a few times to use in posts/ threads and too many to look at from him . You know how he uses what looks like a fence to ro that yracking part of a review and by accident left the camera on and walked off . Came back later in the day finished up and noticef that happing durring editing the video..lol.

Anyway after seeing that all i can assume is this one i have must be doing the same. Could be a lot or just enugh to throw zero off over any time setting....

MY house is climate controlled . 74 daytime and 68 nights / 365 . really just a auto thermostat , but the whole house never changes .
I put an old towel on my shooting table and lay the gun on it , then i start bringing the rest of shooting stuff out and set up . Next i set targats , walk back and set up gun and supply's , . This takes a few minutes and the gun acclimates to the outdoors.
NOW to the scope . most days i sight in and maybe adjust turrets one or two click for poi at first , then after a few shots the turrets are back in original place under no (0) wind conditions .

Does it stay off zero or is it off only for the first couple of shots?

Sometimes i will experience the same problem. After I check all the screws in the rifle and mounts and they are secure I will swap out the scope and in my case that solves the problem. Once in awhile the first shot or two maybe off but if it returns to zero I won't worry about it.

Those who reload firearm cartridges understand that changing the powder has an effect on accuracy by the way it burns, etc.
On our airguns we are using air as the powder so to speak, so when air changes, temp, humidity etc it is bound to make a difference in velocity and how thick the air becomes from humidity or lack of. Then add in any expansion or contraction of the scope thru temp changes and yes....when these things change so will the poi.....
A friend is a retired army specialist, he was a sniper, you gave no idea of how many calculations they make when making precision shots as far as temperature, humidity, sunny or shade and so on..... Accuracy is a lot of work to maintain it !!

I've got UTG Bug Busters, on my PB's I've had Elements and now Arkens on my PCP's. My UTG's are rock solid, my Arkens are rock solid, I have had a little movement in my Elements but nothing to write home about. Honestly I LOVE my Arkens, they just fit my eyes and they don't go anywhere you don't want them.
