This one does not look broken ? I hang a string and small weight down range . (Washers ) Use a Level on the gun , then use the vertical in the scope . line up and carefully tighten the mount screws checking when the screws are just barely tight . then again as you tighten more . Alternating tightening the screws maybe 1/2 turn each time .

OH he just clarified his want is an on gun cant level 6/3/25

I always level my scope using a mirror. The line of the elevation needs to be centered to the bore. If that is done, mount a level that attaches to the tube of the scope.

This way you eliminate all the rail imperfections or other things that doesnt align properly.

I was asking for recommendations on a gun mounted level but I like your method , I have just eyeballed them in the past.

I am looking for one to mount on the gun for shooting.
This is the one I use. I like it because the level can be folded back so it is not sticking out in the rifle case.

BKL rings awesome. They are made in The Great State of Texas. 'Merica!

Just want to say I can’t recommend strongly enough to try a mirror to mount the scope. Why? Well I guess it takes no convincing that eyeballing it is prone to error, but even the common approach that involves placing levels on the gun and the scope are subject to several potential sources of error.

Then when it comes to holding the gun level when shooting, a level which fastens to the scope tube is preferable to one that attaches to the mounting rail. The reason is because the mounting rail is not necessarily perfectly perpendicular to the imaginary line (gravity) where the reticle intersects the bore.

Some good reading on the subject if you are interested.

That level looks like a good one, thanks

Wheeler Engineering makes a nice kit for getting your scope mounted properly:

As a gunsmith, i have used it quite a few times. Many rifles have a rail, so getting the scope level to the gun axis is pretty straight forward. After that, your rifle-mounted level will keep you honest when shooting.

It’s interesting how a vague post can lead to thought provoking discussion, I was inquiring about a scope mounted level but I should have clarified from the start. I appreciate the recommendations. I actually did verify the scope was mounted level using a carpenter level and a plum bob at 75 yards, I couldn’t get the mirror method to work.
