Scope Gurus, Need Help, Mueller Tactical 8-32x44 Drop Calculations?

So, out at the range today confused on the pellet drop of my Texan .30. I am shooting pellets/bullets at 1100 to 1200 fps. 

I zero at 55 yards at 32 power everything is great. So when I shoot out to 115 yards the 5th mil dot should get me in the ball park correct ? In reality the 5th mil dot at 100 yards is not even close to the actual pellet drop. I think it drop off the charts. 

So i figured in Chair Gun that my Pellet Drop would be about 15 to 18 inches. Well in looking at the mil drops of 3.6 inches and 5 mil dots gives me 18 inches of drop. I should be roughly around the bottom of the mil dot in the scope at 32 power right ???

So in reality, I am way off where the pellet impacts in relation to the mil dot. So i pulled back the zoom to 20 Power and aimed at the 4th to 5th mil dot and my new impact is pretty close. 

So my question where am i going wrong? I dont even know at this point how to calculate pellet drop. My train of thought would be if I am at max 32 zoom I could zoom back to 16 power and instead of getting 3.6 inches of drop I could get 7.2 inches of drop for each mil dot?

At this point a 100 to 115 yard shot is very frustrating on figuring drop. Can anyone explain this ? Are my calculations wrong ?

I would check the BC for the ammo you are using. Chairguns BC values can get you close but every guns BC will differ slightly and can mess up your drop data. You can calculate the BC in chairgun by measuring the drop at various distances or even better, by using 2 chronographs. One at the muzzle and one at the target. In chairgun click on toolbox > calculate and calibrate > bc.

Well, the second focal plane nightmare seems to be the issue here - I think.

Turn your scope down to 10x for the mils to be correct. They are 1/2 mils at 20x. Or you could simply click up the required MOA and hold dead on.

Thanks all, makes sense. I was under the understanding that at full power the mill dots work at 3.6 inchs per drop. What you are saying is at 10X only an frame that point you have to work with the differences. 

I might make another post but if somebody could answer this. What is the easiest method to adjust for pellet drop of say 25 yards 50, 75 and 100+?

If i zeroed my gun at 50 yards looks like i will be twisting the heck out of my scope at 1/8 clicks per click to get the desired zero at 100 yards ? I have never been much for on the fly settings on my scope going from one zero to the next like other because I am afraid of inaccuracy when going back to the original 50 yard zero on the scope turret.

In the past I have worked with the scope mill dots from 15 to 75 yards. I normally just adjust up and down because drop was not so bad. Now 100 to 125 is just too much drop. Anybody have suggestions other than making 192 clicks 1/8 MOA to cover the 24.3 inches of drop going from 50 to 115 yards ?

The Mueller should click and return to zero fine mine does, and my trajectory when I was shooting .22 caliber was more than a full turn from 20 to 60 yards. Estimate your range card with chairgun in MOA it is easier to deal with than clicks. Go to the range and check a few points along it to verify it. If needed you can fiddle with your scope height and bc in chairgun until it matches your actual trajectory. After my rifle settled down and I settled on a pellet I had a custom turret label made here http://customturretsystems.com/ Now I have the yardages on my turret instead of counting clicks or MOA. Just need to remember how many turns from bottom your zero is so you don't end up a turn off.

You can also zero your gun further away or higher up your mil dots at 50 so you can use the full aim points of the reticle. At that point it would be both hold over and hold under depending on the range, but not really, just using all of the available dots.

C_M_Shooter. So is that how most guys are shooting ultra long distance. Again i been spoiled I only shot to like 70 yards max so I was always limited to my one scope settings. I just never trusted the click deal, I thought if I got off some how i was done for the day of hunting. 
I have some fx no limit scope rings an to me those are not simple as just adjusting the up and down.

Yes if I plink at tin cans at 100 yards with my 12 ft lb HW97 it takes 24 moa of elevation from my 30 yard zero. That scope has just a target dot, so no mils for reference. I have gotten used to dialing it up and find it much easier to get natural point of aim than when holding over. Especially if holding for both wind and elevation, I cant focus out in no mans land off the reticle.
