Scope gone bad ?

So i mounted up a cheaper end scope i used for some time without issue the other day and went and shot . Well funny it was like way right . So scratching my head i made the clicks got it pretty on zero . Well ok, put it down went in got a refill and whatever goofing i did went back and shot and now way left. ( about the same as it was right a 1/2 hour ago) .

So moved it back right and shot some but acted like it couldn't hold a zero. Of course i checked all mount and ring caps and i use a #2 pencle to put index marks to show of anything moved ...nothing all marks still lined up no shifting ..

Ok , all things come to a end and it held just fine last time i used it so go in pull the scope out of the rings pull the mount off the gun looked it all over .

Then for some reason i took a rag of cleaner cleaned the scope body/ tube , the mount and re mounted the scope back in the rings set the cap screws mounted it back on the same gun / just went back with it as if a new scope job.

Took it out set up a thin cross at 10m and hit the first 3 pellets just low and left , did the clicks just maybe 12 up and 8 right +/- got it just a tad right off zero .
Set it down for X amount of time re shot pretty much right on , and all day ..

Shot 50y pretty good in 1-1/4" circle shot another 10m back to 50y ect..

Anyway out side of overnite cool 78° to hot 101° temps the poi just shifts maybe 3 clicks maybe.. but groups are as tight as i can hold ..

So just a fresh clean remounting of the scope corrected the cant hold zero springrr thing ..

Go figure.

Sadly i dont have the before shots to compare with the nows..

The first quick click zero just right 2 days ago

Then today

The square bull was took out of cold ac in to 96° and immediately shot .

The thin cross was left out maybe 15+/- minutes in the 96° air

Well no movment.. amazing.. so much for being quick to chunk it on the junk pile.

My HW30 had a poi shift last week, I didn't think much about it, just chalked it up to the heat and readjusted the scope. Well a couple days later, after about 20 shots it went way off, like an inch low at 18 yards. I knew it wasn't the gun or the scope mounts, so it had to be the stock screws, so I went to tighten the screws but they were good and tight. Now I'm scratching my head, then it hit me, I took off the turret caps and my turret screws were so loose they were about to fall out. Needless to say I tightened them up real good and the gun started shooting through the same hole at 18 yards again. It's funny how we overlook the simple things so much, I never would have guessed that gun would shake those screws loose.

Ya, been there . I jad the caps off and the 2 tiny screes popped out along with the knob stuff .. it was a Simmons scope..lol

These are Hawkes, happened on 50 awhile back also, just didn't think the 30 had enough recoil to shake them loose.
I chech them now ive caught one with the big slotted zero lock type working out .. so it's a thing i check periodically.

I guess ill definitely caling this scope good . Been 3 days and still holding as good as i can ask
