Scope for Taipan veteran compact

Blejda,

I just completed your quest for a short and light scope for a short and light gun...! 😄

Today I mounted a Discovery VT-3 3-12x44 FFP scope to a PP700. It's so short that the pistol does not look weird with a rifle scope -- that says something of its small size....!

Actually, I made a whole list of scopes that are either SHORT or LIGHT, or BOTH (or that at the very least have a magnificatio of 3-9x or 3-12x). This list compares the specs of the scopes in a table.

Scope Specs Table for about 40 SHORT and/or LIGHT scopes (Attached!!)

Requirements to Make It Onto the List

• 10y Parallax Minimum
• Side Parallax (no front parallax, or fixed parallax)
• Exposed Turrets (no capped turrets)
• Holdover Reticle (no BDC or simple crosshairs)
• Under $500 (most are $200–300)

Specs Included
• Price
• FFP or SFP
• Warranty type
• Springer-rated or not
• Reticle (MIL or MOA)
• Turrets (MIL or MOA; clicks per turn)
• Maximum elevation adjustment range
• IR or not
• Weight and length
• Tube size: 30mm or 1"
• Field of view (FoV)
• Exit pupil

Hope this list helps you make up your mind!

Happy shopping/shooting! 😊

Matthias

My main preferable attributes are;

Decent build quality - go too cheap and the scope will probably be disappointing in more than a few ways. There is some really crappy image quality in the cheapest scopes and the turrets usually do not track!

Stay with either mil reticle going with mil turrets, or moa reticle and moa turrets. Not a good idea to mix moa with mil.

FFP scopes as much as possible, unless the scope will be on low power most of the time.

Look at that Athlon Talos SFP 3-12 mildot or FFP Talos BTR 4-14, even though they don't have a center dot.

The FFP 4-16x50 Athlon Midas TAC, even though it's more expensive, competes very well with $1500 scopes, and is the best value out there!

That discovery seems nice scope but I don't know where to buy it in Europe. I think you made a good decision with that one.

I already have Hawke Airmax compact and I like it but it already has it's job sitting on my Vulcan.

Bugbuster is nice to but it has only mil dot not half mil dot or similar reticle. And I would like little more magnification. 10x at least but 12x would be better.

Thanks everyone for your help. Marko

Blejda -- The Tac Vector Veyron 3-12x44 FFP is the same scope as the Discovery with a different reticle and I'm pretty sure I've seen it on a European airgun YouTube channel.

The BugBuster comes in a 3-12. I have one but looks like I'll need offset mounts and I haven't bothered ordering them yet. I don't recall what reticle mine has. I bought it on a whim to because it was on sale and I needed to get an order up to a certain amount for free shipping.
