Scope dope...... parallax hack

Glued a pin to the scope mount to correlate with my yardage dot marks. Works terrific at the various flag markers in the back yard :)

Very good...

Just another option: you can move your rear scope ring forward just a tad (to be next to the sidewheel) & draw a line w/ a silver paint marker on the very edge of your scope ring as a yardage pointer (like below)...

I did something similar by clamping a triangular piece I cut off of a credit card between the two halves of the scope ring.

Great minds think alike...

I've been doing something similar for years to help with my scope rangefinding. What I've been doing is to mark my side wheel or AO with symbols related to sharp focus at various ranges. I really don't care what the actual range happens to be, only the poi at sharp focus distances. For example..........

<a href="https://imgur.com/7x895QB"><img src="" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

<a href="https://imgur.com/FystEz2"><img src="" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

After focusing, if the pointer lines up with a "+" I hold "crosshair on the target". If the pointer lines up with a single dot "." I hold one mil dot under the crosshair on the target. If the pointer lines up with two stacked dots separated by a slash ".|." I hold target between the 1st and second lower mil dot. If the pointer lines up with two stacked dots ".." I hold the second mil dot under the crosshair on the target.......so on and so forth.

The "downside" of my marking system is that it only works with one gun/mount/scope and one scope power setting. This isn't an issue for me because I only use one scope setting (15x for the Hawke on the HW95 and 16x for the Discovery scope on the R9).

Good information! Some guys seem to use mil dots and some seem to click for vertical compensation. Until just recently, I used mil dots but changed to a scope without and now have started clicking. It appears that holdover is an easier way to go but I like this scope. I’ll have to give it a few months to see if I can get used to it. I’m not a hunter but like to shoot at various distances to challenge myself. How many of you click?

Hey everyone . New to sight and I have question that's eating my lunch. Bought rws 460 Diana in 22 cal with rws 3x9x44 factory scope. Used chair gun to build beginner dope card . Shot my first match sat and was only able to score 15 out of 56 pts. Zeroed gun at 28 yards . Shot 10 to 50 yards side by side to build arch . Got all this info now but don't understand how to build dope chart off it . Watch lots of YouTube but not much for pellet rife .
