now i don't want to cause issues so i will not list exact prices for each- just cost versus each other. All these scopes are in certain criteria, and all have been reviewed by Joe. these scopes have all these in common. 1- FFP , 2- variable power , illuminated reticle , and 50 mm OL lets see how they stack up.
Tac vector taurus 3-18 x 50 FFP , IR , this is the cheapest of the group at low to mid 200's
discovery 3-18 x 50 FFP , IR , HD glass , this scope is about 120 more than the tac vector
falcon 3-18i x 50 FFP , IR this guy costs about 150 more than the tac vector
Aztec emerald 5.5-25 x 50 FFP , IR this scope costs about 300 more than the tac vector
now , to me , is the extra magnification on the aztec required? for me , no. i would much rather have it in 3-18 , but based on their pricing , it would cost same as 5.5-25. i have looked through the aztec 3-18 and found it good. but the price sorta kills it for me. i had a tac vector SFP and it was damn respectable for the price. can't bitch there.
the falcon scope is to me, awesome , i liked it so much i ordered a second one and sent it to joe. it was every bit as clear in the glass as the aztec and 160 cheaper! it was a no brainer for my purposes.
the discovery i have not seen yet it is one of discovery's highest end scopes , and is about same price as falcon. BUT , it has HD glass could this be the steal of this group? Possible.
Summary- to me , aztec has been priced out based on what is offered , not to say their scope is not real good , but is it that much better than the rest? no.
i personally do not think the tac vector taurus glass and track quality to be equal to the falcon , but it is also big time cheaper , and for the price , it produces great.
the falcon is a serious scope , that does not break the bank , it feels high end , but does not cost it.
the discovery- i will have to look into this one further but it could be the best of the group , i'm sure JWR will weigh in on this post and school my rookie butt!
