I had a Hawke Airmax on a Sig asp20 that I use to own and the rifle killed it.

Everything I'm reading leads me to believe that the tubes on the Hawke Airmax scopes and the UTG Hunter aren't long enough to fit between the rings on the RWS lockdown mount. Have you used it with these scopes?
You will NEED a base with droop compensation, at least with my 1998 model, newer ones may not have as much droop as mine. I used a UTG mount, no longer made, with 20 inches of compensation. The new ones have 10 inches of compensation that Goldenstate posted above. Get what he has and you cant go wrong as far as rings and base setup. I learned the hard way using a one-piece base and ran out of adjustment before getting the thing zeroed at 25 yards. Whatever scope you use be sure its springer rated. Athlon claims all their guns are springer rated. I just bought a Hawke fixed 4X with adjustable objective for a springer. The fixed power scopes are more durable and hold up to springers better.Hey folks. I bought a Diana 34 .177 recently and would like to add a scope to hopefully reach out a little more accurately and take out some squirrels. I'd like some suggestions on what some of you more experienced air gunners know will work well and be capable of handling the springer recoil. Thanks for your help.
I have had a UTG fixed 4X with AO on my 34 for years and zero problems. Hawke has a rebate going on now and I ordered a Vantage fixed 4X with AO for a new springer.UTG series are my go to springer scopes. They take a beating and keep on going. I have 2 of the Swat 4-16x44s and a couple 3-9s. As far as mounts go, I use the UTG one piece mounts on most guns, the RWS lockdown on one gun, and some Burris XTR rings on a couple others. The Burris are completely unnecessary for you though.
