Scba tank issue

just got my scba tank from talon tunes and having issues with it. Its a dual gauge model and the guy at the scuba shop insisted that the large guage should be showing the fill pressure but it only showed 1000psi. He would only fill to around 3000psi as he said it was faulty. It showed 3000psi on the small internal gauge. I take it and connect it to my compatto which already has around 170 bar in it. I open the valve and the gauge still only shows 1000psi and the gun doesn't seem to fill up at all.

Any ideas. First time pcp owner and slightly confused as to if its def faulty or if I'm being a numpty somehow.

I would check to see that the line is not plugged. Just close the valve, bleed the air, disconnect the line from the gun and then open the valve a little to see that air flows from the line. If it does then pull the large gauge and check it for debris in the gauge or port area. Be careful here as if the gauge is reading 1000psi you need to remove it slowly to bleed any pressure that may be there although there should not be much volume to speak of.

The big gauge shows whatever pressure is coming out of the hose. Connect it to the gun, and open the valve some. The pressure should rise quickly, then pause, and start to rise slowly. When it pauses, the pressure in the line has matched the pressure in the gun. Close the valve at this point, and the big gauge and the indicator on the gun should be close to the same.

If your big gauge is way off, it may very well be bad. Or have a wad of thread sealant stuck in the hole. Personally I only use thread tape to avoid that potential issue.

Something to keep in mind, is the big one on the tank is the only actual "gauge" in this whole system of tank and gun. The small one on the tank, and small one on the gun are not gauges, but "indicators" and aren't to be trusted as very accurate because well they just aren't designed to be. Keep that in mind if you start to get down to the real details comparing them. And either of the three could potentially be bad. But I'd put the big gauge at the least likely to be bad.

Hope that is of some use and makes sense. If you're nearby come by and we will get it fixed. North Alabama

I'm guessing this is the issue - unless that's normal

*"Edit: now I see that the threads are bent. That could cause an issue for sure. Id call and see if they would send a new gauge rather than the whole tank going back and forth. Very likely got damaged in shipping. I may can get you a good deal on one if they don't help you out.
