SCBA tank fill valve?

Just curious if anyone has any experience with this 4500 tank valve? Particularly does the threading seem quality? 4500 is a lot of pressure and would hate to see the tank turn into a big bore airgun. If not does anyone have similar recommendations they use? M18x1.5 thread.

What kind of tank/valve do you currently have? I've worked with SCBA's for 30 years & I, personally, wouldn't put one of those on my tanks. Does not look robust enough for my needs. Your mileage may vary.
I was looking at purchasing just a cylinder (DOT approved) without a valve. The cylinder has M18x1.5 threads. Just looking for a quality and safe valve to put in it. From reading it seems cga347 have different threads. Found other valves that only handled 250 bar. Not sure what are good options.

hey @Trucker3573 did You reach anywhere?
Also, @Gerry52 does one uses an additional One-Way valve inline with the pcp filling microbore hose while filling a Scuba Tank using those Yong-Heng compressors? or one would simply turn off the compressor, close the Tank's Valve, and then bleed off the line using the bleed valve with compressor?
I got a drager 45 min tank instead of one of the acecare China ones.

I have a one way foster on my fill adapter. DON'T do it the way you asked about. That would involve shutting down compressor under pressure, not a good thing to do. I have a fill adapter that is dedicated for filling tanks ONLY so a one way foster is no problem. If you use an adapter that is for filling your gun AND tank the placement of the one way would differ from mine. Maybe place it on the INTAKE end of your last moisture filter. For me, having a dedicated TANK FILL ONLY adapter simplified things.

i read that You'll be getting it filled at Dive stores... just in case You explore and find out if one would need additional one-way valve to fill it using small non-commercial (e.g. Yong-heng) compressors, do post it...
Mine has a cga 347 valve and my local dive shop has an adapter that they use to directly fill it. No problem.

Thanks, @Trucker3573 i searched a little more and found, that valve which is housed to the Cylinder, while filling, we initially let the pressure rise on the filling side (Pump side) to let's say 150Bar for my tank that's got down to 150Bar from 250, and then we open the Tank's Valve. The process equalizes the pressure on both sides to initiate filling from a balanced out pressures. One-Way Attachment in such scenario won't be needed.

Wow, what’s with the epoxy thread sealer fillet ? If it’s a gob of epoxy applied AFTER the thing is assembled you’ll always want to wear safety glasses when using it, just in case. But if epoxy was applied to the threads and then assembled, no problem. I worked with assemblies at my last job up to 20,000 psi and epoxy was never a thread sealant. Be careful, 4,500 psi is nothing to play with.

Everyone has there own method. I followed no one else and just used common sense. I know, at times that seems a bit short in the scheme of things. I also built my own compressor system using a Bauer pump. I used an output manifold and attached to that are are my overpressure relief valve, my compressor pressure sensor, a pressure gauge and a male foster fitting with the check valve removed so that I can attach it directly to my bottle with the same whip I use to charge my guns. When the bottle is full and at my chosen pressure is reached, the compressor automatically shuts off. I then close the tank valve and bleed down the whip which also bleeds down the compressor. Works great. What would be very nice is a separate bottle pressure gauge, which I do not have at the moment, but I have bought a new CF 12 L bottle from Acecare and will be coming with one and a fill whip.

I should add with this edit that you always need to be aware of what thread system you are using for safety reasons. Parallel threads like BSPP of NPS (Gas threads) seal with a gasket either on the bottom of the threaded hole or at the top with a flange, not on the threads. With NPT or BSPT, these threads seal on the threads. Do not confuse them.
