SCBA for benchrest...are tanks required to be within cert?

I'm looking at getting an SCBA tank and all the peripherals. If competition erupts around here (prob not an eruption, more like a slow leak), I would like to be prepared to enter.

I was discussing the ins and outs of SCBA for PCPs and my wife asked: in competition, do they require tanks to be within their DOT life cycle, have a current test, etc.? I think she has a valid question...and I don't want to buy a cheap tank to find I'm required to have one that is within certification.

Having the tank certified DOT allows you to go to dive shops/paintball store to fill the tank. Every 5 years, they need to be recertified.
If you have your own compressor, the DOT is not necessary.
I have not seen any place check to see if the tank was certified at a competition.

N50 rules do not require certifications. They only stipulate that tanks can not be on the bed top.
