Scary Accuracy — RTI Prophet Compact CZ 177 barrel & JSB 13.4 KOs / PB 10.5 Mako

On my migration from SE Idaho to NW Washington, I stopped at the home of my best friend. It was good to see him and his wife, and we had a lot of fun catching up. Yesterday, while they were both busy I took advantage of 5 acres they have south of Kalispell to test some impact results into clay with JSB 13.4 gr Knockouts and Precision Ballistics 10.5 Makos.

Previously I have stated again and again how I am loving this 177 CZ barrel in Glimmer, my RTI Prophet Performance Compact. The 13.4 grain JSB slugs are especially impressive in dropping pigeons and doves consistently from 70 plus yards. I have even gone over 60 yards with a JSB Hades. However, I wanted to see how the KOs behaved slowed downed from 850 FPS to 770s FPS (21 FPE to 17.5 FPE). Regulator pressure was dropped from 125 Bar to 110 Bar, and efficiency increased to one more of 20 rounds. Honestly, I think accuracy improved a bit. In a head wind I was lobbing slugs at some water bottles consistently at 75 yards.

For the Makos I slowed them from 850 FPS to 785 FPS (17 FPEish to 14.4 FPE). The makos held their own against the KOs out to 50 yards, but the additional 25 yards to 75 yards showed their lighter weight more wind prone. However, for tight lower power levels days in wind the Makos would be ideal for a smaller dairy if the Hades were not functioning.

The photo is taken of each slug type impacting clay at 30 and 50 yards. The Makos are designed for sub -12 guns so at FAC levels they really mushroom, even at 50 yards. The KOs do well too and don’t need 900 plus FPS to stabilize IMHO, and the expansion results are impressive for energy dump. IMHO.

While I still in Idaho I am going to see if I can find a dairy and get permission for a few hours of activity. The gal at the coffee shop said to her knowledge there is one in the area, now to find it.

PS I feel lucky to have this last of the bunch CZ 177 barrel for Glimmer. I was going to consider selling it when I finally pull the trigger on the 22 CZ barrel I have waiting, but its a ….. keeping it.

Sweet, i have just ordered 6 more tins of the 13.43 KOs, hoping they will run sweet in the Vulcan 3 and its CZ barrel,,, and the Maverick too of course.

Gonne order more too soon but from a different seller

We also get .177 Zan slugs soon, pretty exited about those too, also going to order some of those for sure.

Really hope it is going to be a long hot summer here, got lots of work to do, and so also lots of breaks needed, which will be spent leaning over a airgun.
