SC Johnson Paste Wax Discontinued!

Pure carnauba wax is really hard, and is difficult to scratch with your fingernail, unlike beeswax or paraffin.

I have about 3-4 lbs of pure Brazilian carnauba wax, that I got from my grandfather (he's been gone for 30 years now). It needs to be mixed with other waxes and a solvent to be able to be used. After a long search, I found a formula for it, which consists of carnauba wax, beeswax and turpentine. I found some formulas from his old chemical formulary, but they were from materials that are very toxic and practically unobtainable these days. When it cools down, I'll going to try to make some. I have no experience with wax making, so it will be a comedy of errors, for sure. Hope it works.

Just found out Johnson Paste wax that I have used on the metal and wood of my guns for years has been discontinued. Such a great product stopped with no reason to the public. Not advertised for guns but one of the best gun finish protectants on there. Was sold in a big can at about $6 in stores. Now leftover cans going for $100 on EvilBay! WTF!!!o_O
Businesses are not prone to discontinuing products that are selling well and profitable. There is a good reason they discontinued it.
Unless of course you gave them a reason to get even with you😂

Try BRIWAX .. in clear.

While I still have a tin of TREWAX which a very similar product that's likely 40 years old, the evaporation solvents are long gone.
Have been using a fresh tin of UK manufactured BRIWAX with great results ... FYI ;)
Has something in the formulation in "Treewax" changed so that it is no longer preferred, or is the "Briwax" have something that the "Treewax" lacks?
Thanks
Mike

No clue .... Tho just did this earlier in week

Took my last @ 1/2 cup of semi hard/soft Trewax and placed it into my @ 1/3 used soft & solvents rich Brewax tin and left it tightly covered in the summers sun ... In about 45 min the tin was quite warm and wax inside liquid.
Shook it vigorously for a minuet or so mixing them up thoroughly.

Now I have nearly a full tin of blended .... Now it just is what it is and have enough till my dying dayz.
