Safe to use Alphabet org as a general lube?

As Iv said before and keep saying in future detonation is possible in PCP and therefore you should lube ur projectiles, action etc with only proven lubricants that do not detonate. Risk becomes higher when you go to real slugshooters with high friction and high pressure strike required to move it in barrel. Dont think its really likely to happen with standard pellets but as long as there is no studys to show how big of pressure spike behind projectile you need to detonate certain lubricants no idiot should apply anything in anywhere in pcp that can do so. Also ppl who keeps saying pcp dont diesel just please get a freaking clue before handing out harmful and dangerous info. Marko who is well known for being first to hit 3000FPE with pcp and is current record holder reported just few weeks ago that he was firelapping barrel with oil based wheeler 600grit paste and got detonation after increasing shooting pressure to 190bars and this was with bigbore ofc.

Just to be clear, Moble 1 oil is safe to use in PCP, even if it gets into the air cylinder? What weight oil?

Thanks for the help.

No! Stop trying to use automotive stuff on airguns. Use silicone, very simple.

This is very good general advice, but you need to be careful in applying it in this specific instance. Mobil 1 is a fully synthetic lube, similar to many "firearm" lubricants, and it contains neither petroleum or silicon. Regarding silicon, it is fine in many low heat low pressure applications, especially if rubber is concerned. But, it is a poor metal lubricant and, in cases of extreme pressure or heat, it can cause metal parts to seize together. Use it appropriately.
