S510 becomes inaccurate with moderator

Hello everyone,

I have a new .22 S510 and with the very long barrel/shroud I exepcted it to be much quieter on mid level power setting.

It is not backyard friendly! I tried a DonnyFL .22sumu, .25 shogun, and a.22 0db that I have on other rifles. With any of these installed the rifle becomes wildy inaccurate at 15 yards!

What the heck is going on?

Be sure the shroud is on tight and if still inaccurate then Try a Huggett or HW brand. Even a TKO doesn't negatively affect accuracy.

I have a Donny Sumo on my S510 and S410 in .22 and .177 - deadly accurate. However, Donny had me by one caliber oversize, so my .22 has a .25 and m .177 has a .22.

Is it accurate without the moderator? In your post you mentioned trying a .25 cal moderator-is the end of the shroud threaded or are you using an adapter? It sounds as if there's clipping going on.

I'd suspect clipping too. I've got got a Neil Clague on my s510 .22 and it's a pellet stacker, with or without moderator. Same with the U.Sporter .25 with the Q-Tec.

I've got the Ultimate Sporter in .22 with the q-tec. ( it came like that - I didn't add it )

It's "boring" to shoot (lol) - the thing is a laser with either 16 or 18g pellets (AA's or JSB's). I find it best at one pwr level down from full. It's still really good mind you at full pwr - but better at one step down. {shrug shoulders} I don't know why.

Shoot it bare barrel to establish a baseline of POI.

Add the shroud without baffles and shoot it. Note changes if any

Add one of your LDC and shoot.



Not necessarily clipping at all could just be a bad combination of parts leading to wicked bad air flow.

You only need a few bare barrel shots to see the 'natural' POI so maybe start a lawn mower or chainsaw to hide the report.

Also shoot an ABSOLUTELY KNOWN perfect performing pellet.

maybe the barrel thread is not aligned with the barrell at all
