RWS 45 reputation???

The 45 was one of the earliest of the magnum springers and are very good quality guns. They were powerful guns for the day but have a fairly harsh recoil action. I destroyed several scopes with mine. My 45 made in 1988 is extremely accurate out to 50 yards in .177 and has the later synthetic seal. I have had it since the late 80s and it is a keeper. Early models had leather seals from what I have read. Speaking of reading here is some info on the 45 from a blog.

Mine weighs in at near 10lbs with the scope and mount as pictured.

I owned a couple 45's over the years. One was a deluxe with a checkered walnut stock and the other one was plain beech. Both were accurate but the walnut one was the best. Probably the most accurate springer I ever shot. They are a fairly big rifle and kind of clunky. They were the forerunner to the 34 and the later ones were basically a 34 in the older style stock. If it has the buttons on the side of the stock above the trigger guard its an earlier 45, if not then its similar to the 34 action. Here is a couple pics of the 45 be ffg ore and after a rebuild. I bought it in a pawn shop and it needed some tlc.

I had 3 in the early 80s. Big and clunky were previous descriptions and correct. Seems like the early ones had softer springs and shot cycle was nicer. Very tedious to pull apart and not as well thought out as the 34/36/38 series. As I recall, triggers were fine and all were accurate ... especially considering how they mounted in the stock. Gave them to friends .....
