Rust prevention?

Best I've used is #1 a solid bluing. Way I go about is to get a uninform finish with 600 grit paper. Acetone to remove oil. Use a paint brush to quickly and evenly apply oxpho blue. Wipe clean, burnish with 000 steel wool, 3 more coats in the same fashion. Wash with water. Pat dry. Then soak in oil for a few hours. (topically is fine, doesn't need to be submersed)

As far as topical oil, best ive used is beeman matalpholic #9 (now marketed as air venturi mp-5)

Below 2 guns I recently blued. Lowest one was constantly rusting for seemingly no reason. No more. Even having it out in the rain.

Poject Farm on youtube is a great resource, his testing is W----A----Y better than most. For corrosion resistence, NOT lubrication, he found Frog lube to be very good. I use it on my knives and wipe down the outside of my airguns with it and it seems to work really well. The video is interesting.

Right now I'm looking at three products curious if anyone has experience with them.

Ballistol , barricade and Boeshield T-9

@O2shooter I use Ballistol for a number of applications. Not familiar with the other two. I also have other oils for different purposes to provide a barrier to protect from rust and corrosion. I asked a somewhat similar question a while back on AGN. You may find some responses helpful. Here’s a link to that thread

I use a silicone cloth with a small shot of Sheath rust preventative on all metal surfaces, on my firearms, never had a rust problem!! For the inside of my barrels on my airguns...I use beeswax spray on my pellets so my barrels are kept rust free from the beeswax. I use the beeswax on a pull thru for my firearm barrels as well, with no rust issues there as well. I have used the beeswax on exterior metal work, blued and unblued with excellent results and it makes my wood stocks look excellent!! Remove the action and spray beeswax in the cutout to keep your wood stock from absorbing moisture.

I have used a good Carnauba wax on the exterior of all my firearms for many years. No rust, but I admit to living in a very arid clime, so depends on where you are in the world maybe?

I have also used the Renaissance Wax, it way more expensive, but it really works well without leaving any fingerprints or marks.

Amazon.com : renaissance wax

The best part of using wax is that it doesn't collect dust/debris, keeping the gun cleaner than with something that might collect dust/debris.
