Last week I was shooting my Prophet (full size) and noticed something sounded a bit off.. I soon noticed my reg would climb from 140 bar to 160 in a heartbeat.. I adjusted it some doing some dry fires and same thing... reg pressure would fly up fast! I got to be a bit concerned about it so I degassed it.. later that night I just ordered a new reg but just the standard reg set to 145bar. Today it came in so I installed it. Set up the chrony and proceeded to adjust the hammer spring.. it would max out at 974fps (25.4gr, 22cal) I backed it down to 942fps.. reviewing the shot string on the chrony the standard reg is a very consistent reg.. I like it

Yes. When my RTI was a slugger, it wore a set pressure reg. I worked the reg over with some polishing and surfacing and it was rock solid with an instantaneous recovery. Usually the more simple something is the more reliable it is. Big time tunability can create weaknesses. If you have a favorite projectile and tune, a set reg is the way to go.

Had a bit more time to shoot this evening. The new standard reg is performing great. AOA is shipping me replacement parts to fix my adjustable reg but I'm not sure I'll put it back on. I'll keep it as the spare for the compacts.
